Rachel revealed to the group on Wednesday’s episode of Traitors that she’d recently received training from a former FBI agent, learning how to read subtle facial expressions and detect when people are being dishonest.
People watching the games were shocked. Why are these players constantly revealing they’ve been hiding things? It’s as if they’re saying, “I haven’t been honest with you until now, but you can believe me now.”
Rachel mentions FBI training, but it’s unclear exactly what that involves. While we don’t know who she trained with, many online courses teach lie detection methods based on techniques used by the FBI.

Udemy features a highly-rated course on lie detection, led by an FBI trainer, Dr. David J. Lieberman. The course claims you can learn to identify deception simply by listening to someone speak – even without directly interacting with them – and also recognize when someone is concealing their nervousness.
For instance, when someone gives a compliment, they often use words like ‘I’ to show they genuinely mean it and take ownership of their positive statement.
For example, someone who has been assaulted almost never describes themselves and their attacker as “we.” Using “we” would suggest a connection between the victim and the person who harmed them, which doesn’t feel right.

The course will also teach you how to break down arguments, look for specific evidence, identify when someone is being disingenuous, and recognize potentially harmful personality traits.
Okay, so I was reading about Dr. Lieberman, and apparently, this guy is the expert in psychological stuff for some seriously important people. Like, he trains FBI profilers, the NSA, and even the military. Apparently, he built the training program that every PSYOPs graduate has to go through – it’s mandatory. It’s pretty wild to think he’s consulted with security firms all over the world, too. He’s a big deal!
Assuming he’s telling the truth – and it’s hard to know for sure – he appears to be an expert on deception. He’s written many books and frequently appears on television discussing his ‘Neuro-dynamic Analysis’ technique, which is different from the scientific study of neurodynamics. The media seem to enjoy featuring him.
The Whetstone Security Group offers another course. Their name is strikingly similar to the secretive groups often featured in Jason Bourne films – likely intentionally. It’s important to note this is different from the Whitestone Security Group.

This course claims to show you how to quickly tell if someone is lying, without needing any special tools like lie detectors. This is good, because even the highest courts, like the US Supreme Court, agree that those lie detectors aren’t always accurate.
Whetstone says their unique BLAST™ technique will teach you to identify more than 100 signs that someone might be lying, and also how to judge whether those signs are trustworthy.
Bold claims. Digital Spy hasn’t tested any of these courses, so we can’t speak for their value.
OR CAN WE? Mwa-ha-ha-haaaa…
