How to Fair Catch in College Football 25
As a seasoned College Football 25 player and avid fan of the game, I can’t stress enough the importance of knowing how to call for a Fair Catch. This simple strategy has saved me countless times from getting obliterated by the opposition during a punt or kickoff return.
During a college football game, if you’re about to punt and want to prevent the opposing team from making a big return, you can simply request a fair catch. This will give their return specialist the opportunity to catch the ball in a fair spot on the field without any additional blocking or interference from your team. Thus, avoiding potential decimation from the oncoming team.
In college football, not every time after a kickoff or punt can you recover the ball and run it back. But fortunately, you have the option of signaling for a fair catch, enabling you to secure the ball at the spot of your catch. This straightforward tactic can be quite beneficial.
Let’s go over how to do it and when you can.
How to call for a Fair Catch in College Football 25
In the “Controls” area of the “Settings” menu in College Football 25, you won’t find explicit instructions on executing a Fair Catch. However, if you’re accustomed to playing Madden or the old NCAA series, you’ll recall the corresponding button for this action.
Initially, press the Circle button on PS5 or the B button on Xbox to manage the returner. When you’re ready for a Fair Catch, keep holding down Triangle (PS5) or Y (Xbox). Remember to hold it firmly as opposed to just tapping it, since the Fair Catch mechanism is only activated with a long press.
When you can Fair Catch

In college football, there are instances where you can request a Fair Catch when a ball is kicked to you. This can occur at the beginning of both halves, following a team’s score, or when a team is forced to punt the ball due to being on fourth down. The most common scenario for a punt is when a team has failed to convert a fourth down situation.

Press the mentioned button before, and your opponent will signal a Fair Catch by raising their hand above their head in the endzone. This results in a touchback, moving the ball to your 25-yard line. In the field of play, pressing the button allows your team to continue their offensive series from where they caught the ball. Remember, you must secure the catch for this action to be valid.
