As a die-hard fan of Nancy Meyers’ movies, I must say that this piece of news has left me absolutely thrilled! Growing up, The Holiday was one of those films that never failed to warm my heart and bring a smile to my face. The storyline, the characters, the beautiful homes, and let’s not forget about Mr. Napkin Head – it all came together so perfectly!
Every Christmas, the Holiday remains a cherished holiday classic that many British people continue to watch, nearly twenty years after its initial release on screen.
In this rephrased version, the plot revolves around Amanda, a woman who’s often unlucky in love, deciding on a home exchange. She spends the holiday season at a charming English countryside cottage owned by journalist Iris. (Still starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet)
In Surrey, Iris leaves behind her charming countryside abode and moves into Amanda’s grand Los Angeles residence. Both women find themselves captivated by a thrilling new romantic entanglement upon encountering Graham and Miles.
However, many film enthusiasts might not realize that the amusing scene in the movie had its origins in an actual event that occurred during production.
As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share an intriguing piece of trivia: Director and writer Nancy Meyers disclosed that the somewhat peculiar scene where Miles apologizes to Iris for accidentally touching her breast while reaching across in a sushi bar was inspired by an awkward moment between Nancy and Jack Black during filming.
During a scene while filming, the actor, who is 55 years old, unintentionally brushed against Nancy’s chest. This tickled her so much that she immediately incorporated this accidental incident into the following day’s script as a humorous moment.

In an interview with ComingSoon, she shared: “On the set one day, he accidentally brushed against my breast and said, ‘Oops, pardon the breast tap,’ which I found hilarious because men often collide with women in such a way and act as if they didn’t.
‘But he immediately said sorry about the boob graze so I wrote it into the next scene he did.’
Moreover, these aren’t the only sections that resemble real life; Nancy deliberately crafted the characters of Iris and Amanda with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet in mind.
The news emerges shortly following Jude Law’s suggestion, which caused quite a stir online, about a potential sequel to the cherished movie.
Previous week, the British actor, aged 51, met up again with director Nancy over lunch, in honor of his receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Recording from her seat at the table, Nancy remarked: “Check out who I’m dining with today – it’s Jude Law! What an excellent achievement to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, truly remarkable.
It seems like it’s been a while since our last encounter, following the filming of ‘The Holiday’. Now, I’ve noticed that you’ve been in numerous interviews lately. People can’t seem to stop asking about a potential sequel. So, any thoughts on that?
With a deep breath and an audible groan, Jude requested some time, saying “just a moment”, as he playfully imitated the movie’s character known as Mr Napkin Head, by placing his napkin and glasses atop his head.

As Jude sat beneath the napkin, Nancy asked: ‘is that a yes Jude?’ while he shook his head around.
Following Nancy posting the video on social networking sites, enthusiasts became quite excited, asserting that the duo’s skit had ‘shattered the web’ in a spectacular fashion.
They remarked: ‘Casually shattering the web’;
“It’s crucial that you return to direct another film for us.
‘Mr. Napkin Head Returns for Another Holiday’;
“I’ve had a long history with this movie, as I’ve been watching it since I was six years old.” (Paraphrasing the first sentence)
Previously, it was mentioned that Jude had expressed a desire to return to the role. This was shared during the Tribeca Festival in New York City in June, where he stated, “I really enjoy the concept.
In the initial film, we follow the story of Iris, a journalist living in Surrey, and Amanda, a movie producer from Hollywood, both going through their personal sorrows. After experiencing heartaches, they decide to exchange houses.

In Surrey, Amanda discovers romance with Graham, Iris’s book editor sibling who is a widower, while Iris encounters Miles, portrayed by Jack, and begins dating him.
Graham is the dad of Olivia and Sophie, who are portrayed by Miffy Englefield and Emma Pritchard respectively. As time goes on, both girls grow to admire Amanda, eventually welcoming her into their family circle.
As his on-screen daughters have grown and moved on, I, Jude, still see potential for revisiting the storyline. I firmly believe that my character may not have undergone significant changes over time.
He playfully implied that Graham likely owns cardigans, spectacles, and enjoys reading. It seems plausible that he’s concerned about his daughters, given they are around 28 and 29 years old.
