After a dramatic episode where Joe (Alex Lawther) chose to support his fellow trainees instead of Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and her alien creature, the final episode of Noah Hawley’s *Alien: Earth* suggests a significant shift in power is happening on the island of Neverland.
In the eighth episode, titled “The Real Monsters,” the conflict between Wendy and the wealthy CEO Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) reached a peak. Wendy joined forces with other hybrids to seize control of Kavalier’s headquarters. After hacking into the Neverland security system and freeing herself and the Lost Boys, Wendy assigned each hybrid a specific target. Smee (Jonathan Ajayi) and Slightly (Adarsh Gourav) were sent to find Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant), Morrow (Babou Ceesay) and Nibs (Lily Newmark) went after Dame Sylvia (Essie Davis), and Curly (Erana James) targeted the Prodigy soldiers. Recognizing Wendy’s strong leadership, Curly also asked to be called Jane, a reference to Wendy Darling’s daughter in the original Peter Pan story.
Wendy rescued her brother just before a dangerous alien eyeball could take over his body. This scheme was orchestrated by Boy, with assistance from his bodyguard, Atom (played by Adrian Edmondson), who was surprisingly Boy’s very first robotic creation. Fortunately, Wendy was able to stop Atom because he was a machine linked to the Neverland network, saving Joe in the process. Afterwards, Wendy and Boy had a heated argument about how he sees her, and her struggle to define her own identity. She expressed her confusion, saying, “I don’t know who I am. I’m not a child, not an adult, not Marcy, not even Wendy anymore. I can’t be what everyone expects me to be.”

Wendy was certain of one thing: she wasn’t helpless. After locking up the adults who had tried to control the hybrids, she established the new rules, with her Xenomorph and its baby chestburster watching with a threatening presence. “We are in charge now,” she declared, and the Lost Boys waited for her orders.
Okay, so the season finale left us hanging, but honestly, it wasn’t the *most* frustrating cliffhanger ever. It definitely sets things up for a second season, though, and I’m really curious to see where it goes. Like, what’s that eyeball alien *actually* up to now that it’s taken over Arthur’s body? And those Weyland-Yutani people showing up on the island… what are they there to do? Plus, can Wendy really control that Xenomorph? It’s all so intriguing! Thankfully, the creator, Hawley, has hinted at future plans, so hopefully, we’ll get some answers soon!
He explained to Evolution of Horror that he has a clear idea of the story’s overall message and where it’s headed. While he doesn’t know exactly how long it will take to get there, he has a vision of a successful outcome. His main focus now is finding ways to speed up the creative process so audiences don’t have to wait years for new content.
