Stranger Things spoilers follow.
It’s been more than a week since the final episode of Stranger Things season 5 premiered on Netflix, bringing the ten-year series to a close. Many viewers are still trying to understand what happened in the finale, and it’s clear they aren’t the only ones.
Many viewers have wondered why the Demogorgons weren’t in the final battle in the Abyss. Originally, the creatures were planned to be part of the scene, but they were removed because the creators worried audiences had seen enough of them.

The new documentary, One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at how the Duffer Brothers created the show and will finally answer some questions left open by the fifth season.
Director Martina Radwan says that the documentary One Last Adventure will include footage of the writers talking about the show’s final battle and why they decided to cut the Demogorgons from it.

She found the scene and the discussion that followed particularly engaging, noting that they clearly led to a shift in direction. She described the writers’ room as a captivating place to witness the creative process unfold, observing the writers as they worked through their ideas, as she explained to Variety.
It was great how confident everyone seemed about the Demogorgons in the final Abyss scene, although co-creator Ross Duffer admitted they were starting to worry people might be getting tired of them. Writer and producer Kate Trefry felt the same way.

So, it’s understood that this isn’t the final word on the matter. There’s a disagreement, but everyone expects it will be worked out eventually. We intentionally left the documentation open-ended because, when it was published, it was already known that there weren’t any Demos available for the Pain Tree.
The documentary includes interviews with the show’s stars and people who worked behind the scenes, like Sadie Sink (who played Max Mayfield), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), and Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven). Brown even appears in her full Eleven costume, complete with a fake nosebleed.
Radwan shared that the idea to film the interview on Brown’s last day came from Brown herself, as she really wanted to feel like her character, Eleven. Radwan also jokingly mentioned that, true to form, Millie Brown gave many people nosebleeds as a playful farewell gift after filming wrapped.
All five seasons of Stranger Things are now available on Netflix. A behind-the-scenes look at the making of season 5, titled ‘One Last Adventure,’ will be released on Netflix on January 12th.
