Melissa Joan Hart celebrated her 50th birthday on Saturday, and she’s reportedly doing great – looking and feeling better than ever.
Melissa Joan Hart, known for her role in the 1990s sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch, has been focusing on improving her overall health and well-being for the past two years.
She told People magazine she’s feeling healthier and more energetic than she has in years, and that she lost around 18 pounds last year.
Melissa shared that losing weight wasn’t her goal – she simply wanted to improve her overall well-being.
Melissa is starting a new phase in her life and has revealed her tips for feeling and looking great at age 50.
Melissa worried that perimenopause would prevent her from reaching her fitness goals. She admitted, ‘I honestly didn’t believe I could lose weight anymore, considering my age and being in perimenopause. I doubted it was even possible.’
The Mayo Clinic explains that women are more prone to weight gain around their stomachs due to shifts in their hormones.
The actress was able to lose the weight by adopting a diet that included fasting and eliminating sugar and alcohol.
In fact, Melissa hasn’t had an alcoholic beverage in over a year.
She explained that she wasn’t even enjoying alcohol anymore, so she decided to stop drinking. As a result, she felt much healthier and also lost weight, which made her feel great.
Melissa also shared that staying hydrated has been a challenge for her over the years.
Instead, the mum-of-three will opt for a club soda with lime or tea.
Her favourite tea is green tea, peppermint tea, or ‘any kind of tea.’
The actress prioritizes healthy, nourishing foods, often including plenty of protein, fiber, and green juices in her diet.
She usually starts her day with a healthy protein shake made from vegetables like spinach or kale, combined with various fruits.
For lunch, she typically eats something with plenty of protein, like a big salad or a bowl of soup. Her favorite is a street corn salad.
She still enjoys a healthy dinner, typically including lean proteins like chicken or beef and a generous portion of vegetables.
She sometimes substitutes traditional pasta with veggie strings.
As for skincare, Melissa urges using anti-wrinkle creams.
She told Aberdeen News: ‘Sunscreen and moisturiser always. And do not sleep on your side.
‘That’s what I’m fighting now, the chest wrinkles… and the tech neck.’
The actress also uses a vitamin C serum to fade acne scars, uneven skin tone, and dark circles under her eyes.
She attributes her radiant skin to the Power Polish exfoliator, saying it helps her achieve a healthy complexion in just a few weeks.
Melissa is also an avid gym-goer and regularly posts her workouts online.
Last month, the star showed off her impressive strength training.
She shared a video on Instagram of herself exercising in her dressing room, still wearing heels and jeans.
In the clip, she performed push-ups using 15-pound weights.
I’m really excited about a new fitness project I’ve started! To help me with my workouts, I actually had some 15-pound weights delivered to my room. I’m all about getting that good ‘pump’ – you know, when your muscles feel full and strong after a workout – and I’m definitely feeling it now!
