In an interview with Disney Rewards Insider magazine’s summer 2025 issue, Alexandra Byrne mentioned that the unique script for “First Steps” and Matt Shakman’s distinctive vision of a ’60s film setting inspired her to create an unprecedented costume design for the Fantastic Four.

For hours on end, we immersed ourselves in the dye baths, meticulously experimenting with different hues and intensities within a spectrum of blues. It’s a laborious task, but incredibly thrilling,” Byrne elaborated. She further emphasized, “The whole procedure is like a heart-pounding pursuit to seize the very soul of the movie.” (via ComicBook.com)

Bryne appeared content with the design she ultimately produced, a sentiment clearly expressed through her remarks. “Developing the space suits and life support systems was a significant milestone in terms of the retro-future aesthetic,” she noted, further explaining that the Fantastic Four costumes embodied “a harmonious blend of vintage engineering principles and modern, gleaming ambitions.
