The third and probably last season of Sam Levinson’s popular, but often debated, show Euphoria premiered on HBO on April 12th, four years after its second season ended. This new season addresses the time jump by starting five years after the events of the season two finale, showing the characters as young adults navigating their lives beyond high school. However, not all of the original main cast members are returning for this season.
Most of the show’s popular actors, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer, are coming back for another season. However, some cast members won’t be returning. Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, decided not to return, as the show felt her character’s storyline had run its course. This also meant there wasn’t much for her on-screen boyfriend, Ethan (Austin Abrams), to do. Storm Reid, who played Gia Bennett, is also leaving the show to focus on other projects.
Angus Cloud, the actor known for playing the fan-favorite character Fezco in the first two seasons of Euphoria, sadly passed away in 2023. Because Fezco’s storyline ended on a cliffhanger at the end of season two, a major question heading into the first episode of season three was how the show would address his character’s absence.
‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Reveals Fezco Is in Prison for 30 Years

The second season ended with a police raid on Fezco’s home, triggered by their drug supplier’s betrayal. During the chaotic and violent raid, Ashtray was killed by police, and Fezco was shot and arrested. This marked the last appearance of Fezco, as the season concluded with other storylines wrapping up.
Okay, so the new season kicked off with a really interesting scene. Zendaya’s character, Rue, is basically urging Lexi – Maude Apatow’s character – to call Fezco. You remember them, they were starting to have this genuinely sweet connection before everything went down. Lexi makes excuses about being busy with her Hollywood job, but it quickly becomes clear she’s avoiding him because he’s in prison. Like, a long time – thirty years after that raid on his place. It’s heartbreaking, honestly, to see that relationship stalled like that.
The ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Premiere Does Include a Brief Dedication to Angus Cloud

I was so incredibly saddened to hear about Angus Cloud’s passing in 2023, especially as he was just beginning to shine with his amazing work in Euphoria. Like many fans, I wondered how the show would acknowledge his loss when it returned. The first episode included a touching, though brief, “In Memoriam” segment after the credits, honoring Angus, along with Kevin Turen, a producer who also passed away in 2023, and Eric Dane, who sadly died in February 2026 after battling ALS. While I hope there will be a more substantial tribute later in the season, that simple acknowledgment in the premiere felt like a beautiful way to remember him.
