Season 13 of When Calls the Heart is set to air in 2026, and fans are thrilled – not just about the show being renewed for a 14th season and Lori Loughlin’s return, but also about a growing number of pregnancies among the cast. Lead actress Erin Krakow is among those expecting, having announced in November that she and co-star Ben Rosenbaum are having a baby. They almost revealed the news before filming for Season 13 had finished.
Krakow and Rosenbaum, who got married recently, are thrilled to be expecting their first child. Their Hallmark colleagues were quick to offer congratulations! Krakow shared with Scary Mommy that she kept the news quiet on set until later in the filming of Season 13, but almost gave it away earlier due to intense cravings – she wanted pickles with every meal!
I waited until later in the season to tell the cast and crew, but apparently Crafty started to get suspicious beforehand. I heard they noticed I was requesting extra pickles on every sandwich and wondered if something was up.
It’s one thing to be pregnant while filming, but keeping it a secret—and dealing with intense cravings—was a real challenge for Krakow. It’s amazing she managed to hide it for as long as she did! It seems she wasn’t even aware that the craft services team suspected anything, so it’s unclear how long she kept it under wraps. Thankfully, she at least got her extra pickles, even if she had to be discreet about it.
It’s likely that Season 14 of When Calls the Heart won’t begin filming until later this year, which means Erin Krakow won’t have to worry about pregnancy cravings while on set. She’ll simply be adjusting to life with a new baby – and she won’t be alone! Several cast members are expecting babies soon, including Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace, as well as Chris McNally and Julie Gonzalo. It seems like When Calls the Heart is experiencing a bit of a baby boom!
It makes you wonder if the show will reflect what’s happening in the actors’ lives. When asked about Elizabeth and Nathan having a baby, Krakow said anything is possible. The couple already have their hands full with their children, Allie and Jack, and only recently got together after Elizabeth ended her relationship with Lucas. Krakow would like to see them get engaged before considering a baby, but who knows – maybe a wedding is in their future sooner than we expect!
Okay, so Krakow almost spilled the beans way earlier than she intended, but it sounds like finally sharing her news with the cast and crew was a huge relief. Though, I have a feeling the studio might need to start thinking about on-set childcare – it seems like there’s a baby boom happening, and Season 14’s production is just around the corner!
