How Disney actor Alyson Stoner survived stalkers, starvation and sexualisation after revealing horrifying rape by ‘well-adored colleague’

In their newly published memoir, Alyson Stoner openly discusses the sexualization she experienced as a young child actor, along with accounts of undernourishment and an unsuccessful abduction attempt. Following her previous disclosure about a harrowing rape incident, these are additional troubling events from her past.

The performer from Disney, now 32, who identified as queer in 2018 and prefers they/them pronouns, achieved stardom at the age of six.

Alyson gained recognition for playing key roles in the cherished movie series Cheaper by the Dozen, along with Camp Rock, the Step Up films, and appearances in various Disney shows.

In her digital world, Alyson found herself in distressing circumstances that no child ought to experience, such as rape, exploitation, and stalking. These harrowing experiences are detailed in her recent memoir titled “Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Everything.

Due to their well-known roles evoking nostalgia, they gained widespread recognition as household names. This newfound fame unfortunately led Alyson into the trap of a terrible kidnapping incident, according to The Guardian’s report.

Initially, their team believed they were sending the actor to meet a terminally ill fan as a heartwarming gesture. However, it quickly became clear that it was actually part of a failed plan to kidnap the actor instead.

As Alyson reached puberty, she began to notice that during her grueling auditions, there was a tendency for top executives to sexualize her interactions with them.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve observed a striking trend for young women like myself – an unexpected pressure to incorporate sexuality into our representations, seemingly assumed as an innate understanding.

It was an incredibly strange and distressing situation, finding myself moving from one room to another filled with adult casting directors, aware that at the age of 13 or 14, I was supposed to charm or appeal to them inappropriately.

During their upbringing under public scrutiny, people close to them emphasized the importance of protecting them from sunlight and preventing their already light complexion from tanning.

Instead, Hollywood’s relentless focus on the ‘ideal’ physical appearance began to have a detrimental effect on Alyson around their mid-teens, ultimately leading them to reach a critical point.

The actor shared details about the grueling, high-intensity exercise routine they followed, along with a stringent diet plan that resulted in a halt in their menstruation at the age of 17.

At that point, Alyson decided to consult a professional, but those close to them cautioned against going to rehab, instead reminding them of their fleeting fame as a child star in the entertainment world.

They mentioned that to achieve a smooth transition into adult life within the entertainment industry, they had set specific benchmarks to meet by age 18, and now they were fast approaching that deadline.

After they revealed they attended a weight loss camp as part of the preparation for Jennifer Lawrence’s role in The Hunger Games, this event occurred afterwards.

In a heartfelt expression, Alyson expressed her feelings about not being selected for auditions or shows that ultimately didn’t air: “It feels like, when you’re the merchandise, it’s hard not to wonder, what’s wrong with me? This experience left a profound mark on my self-confidence.

Although the initial rejection was painful, even after being selected, my self-worth was still strongly linked to that outcome. Regardless of the result, it seems like self-worth isn’t primarily rooted in oneself but rather depends on factors outside one’s control.

In simpler terms, what makes the [entertainment industry] stand out is that it’s part of a daily routine for children, yet it often affects other aspects of their health and growth negatively.

In her book, Alyson narrated an incident where she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a highly respected member of the community following a wellness event.

‘The surroundings seemed hazy as if out of focus, indicating a disconnection between my consciousness and physical self.’ Referring to the author, Stoner, who shared screen time with Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato in the Camp Rock movie series, wrote this sentiment in their memoir, according to Us Weekly.

The final thing I recall before losing consciousness was a poster depicting a fierce cat pouncing on its prey. After that, I passed out, and I was assaulted.

During that period, Stoner was temporarily stepping back from acting roles and shifting his focus from content production.

Originally, the once-famous young actor was pursuing a career as a full-time mental health specialist and an advocate for today’s child stars and social media personalities.

Having been a child star previously, this individual is now focusing on becoming a full-time mental health professional and an advocate for current child actors and influencers.

At a previously undisclosed health-focused gathering, the former Disney employee claimed that the reported sexual assault took place following their encounter with the colleague.

After accepting the colleague’s invitation to explore his offerings, it seems that Stoner found himself in their company alone.

In their memoir, Stoner chose not to disclose the name of the individual they claimed had mistreated them as if they were an insentient object, prior to describing this alleged treatment.

Initially, they had noted that he entered a room on the topmost floor of an apartment complex through the door. Later on, they recalled a specific thought they had at that moment.

Could this space be both his workplace and home? Many innovators and artists tend to occupy live-work environments. However, unlike the images he shared with me, this setting appears quite different.

Currently, Alyson continues her acting career, having recently re-joined the cast of the revived Disney animated series Phineas and Ferb, which was rebooted by a major media company.
