How Damian Hurley has been a pillar of support to friend Kate Cassidy as he accompanies the influencer at Liam Payne’s funeral

As someone who has weathered the stormy seas of love and loss, I can only imagine the profound sorrow that Kate Cassidy is experiencing following the untimely death of her beloved Liam Payne. Having navigated my own share of heartaches, I understand the depth of anguish that comes with losing a soulmate.

Damian Hurley stands steadfastly as a source of strength for Kate Cassidy during her time of mourning following the death of her partner, Liam Payne.

On October 16, Liam, at the age of 31, tragically passed away following a fall from a balcony on the third floor of a hotel located in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital city.

Following his sad passing, there’s speculation that Damian may have formed a friendship with Kate via social media platforms. In tribute, he expressed his affection for her in a heartfelt online message.

Accompanying a black-and-white picture of us hugging, he wrote: “One of the kindest souls I’ve encountered. A heartbreaking goodbye.

‘Thinking of and sending love to Liam’s family, especially my beautiful friend @kateecass ❤︎’. 

On Wednesday at St Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, Damian, who had been expressing his support for Kate through likes and comments on her Instagram posts, confirmed his presence by her side during the funeral service.

Kate, sporting a lengthy black coat adorned with fur around the edges and donning sunglasses, walked into the church with a sense of solemnity, accompanied by her friend.

She paused to examine an impressive flower arrangement shaped like five white ten-pin bowls at the church entrance. Earlier, it had been mentioned that ten-pin bowling was among Liam’s favorite pastimes, and he frequented it four times weekly.

Damian – who is the son of Elizabeth Hurley – stayed close to Kate on the day. 

Prior to her departure for Miami, Florida, Kate had previously spent time with Payne in Argentina. Subsequently, she acknowledged their intention of getting married.

Initially, they flew to Buenos Aires for Liam’s ex-bandmate Horan’s concert on October 4. However, while she returned home on October 14, Liam chose to stay in Argentina.

After his passing, she penned a heartfelt message on Instagram expressing gratitude for the heartwarming sentiments and affection that have been shared with her.

I’ve been utterly bewildered, as if the last few days weren’t truly happening. I humbly request understanding and privacy as I try to make sense of it all on my own.

dear Liam, my dear one, you embody everything that brings me joy. I feel compelled to convey to you that my affection for you has never been bound by conditions, but rather it’s an all-encompassing love. Rest assured, this love will remain a constant in my life for as long as I live. Liam, know that you are deeply cherished.

 

In the month of October 2022, Kate and Liam embarked on their romantic journey, and they walked their first public event together, which was the Fashion Awards, towards the end of the same year.

Last June, they quelled any speculation about their relationship by going on a date in London. Later that same year, she stood by his side when he was admitted to the hospital due to a severe kidney infection.

Following his passing, Kate referred to Liam as her “dearest friend, the soul I adored most,” expressing tenderly about his “infectious” vitality. She admitted to having difficulty adjusting to life without him, stating she was at a loss for how to move forward.

She clarified that the duo composed letters expressing their aspirations for their shared future – penning down thoughts they hoped would materialize, which is commonly known as manifestation, a concept suggesting that strong conviction can shape a desire into actuality by harnessing its power.

The sealed letter he had asked her not to open contained his wish for them to marry within a year and spend eternity together. It remains unclear whether she read this letter before or after his passing.
