How Chris Tarrant’s ex-wife exposed shocking affair: “This is insane”
Chris Tarrant’s ex-wife Ingrid has opened up about her former husband’s shocking affair.
Ingrid, a popular television figure, and the previous host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” Chris, were wed from 1991 till 2007. During their marriage, they welcomed two children, one of whom is Toby, a well-known radio announcer.
On the “Suddenly Single” segment of “Best” magazine, Ingrid shared her suspicion that her former spouse was involved with another woman, and she took extensive measures to confirm this.

She remembered saying, “I confirmed it by hiring a private investigator,” but years earlier, she had felt uneasy and wondered, ‘Things don’t seem right.’ So, I directly asked him, ‘Are you considering having an affair? Are you currently in one?’
“‘Oh, don’t be ridiculous, of course not,’ [he said] and I 100 percent believed him.”
However, years later, she asked him again and didn’t believe him when he said no.
She stated, “A feeling led me to suspect he wasn’t truthful. To confirm, I contemplated hiring a private investigator.
As a car enthusiast, I found myself in a situation where Chris’s vehicle required a tracker installation. To make this happen, I seized the opportunity to use his car for the day. So, with a request as simple as needing some straw from the stables, I borrowed his car and had the device fitted without raising any suspicions.
She continued, “They needed a considerable amount of time to set up the wiring due to the recent installation of video screens for the children. Meanwhile, he owned another vehicle, so I purchased a prepaid mobile phone to monitor its location. However, I found myself constantly having to recharge it.
During that period, there were instances when I found myself questioning my sanity. I’d be slipping around on the floor, making sure to keep quiet so I could grab the keys and go outside to recharge my phone. I endured countless sleepless nights because I had to do it while he was asleep and before he woke up in the morning.
Additionally, she claimed that Chris was attempting to manipulate her into believing she required psychological assistance, as a means to conceal his own secrets.
Chris suggested I might be hallucinating, recommending I seek help at The Priory. Despite this, I was certain of my identity, and if I had doubted myself, I might have wondered what was wrong with me. However, I knew I wasn’t going insane.” (In first person)
In 2006, Chris openly acknowledged his involvement in an extramarital affair and expressed remorse for the pain he inflicted. He stated, “I am solely responsible for the demise of my marriage.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Ingrid talked about how she’s now happy being both single and celibate.
