‘How can Geri rubbish the legacy of the Spice Girls… who does she think she is?’: As furious row erupts, sources VERY close to the band tell KATIE HIND their withering verdicts on ‘lady of the manor’ Geri

Before they became pop stars, the Spice Girls frequently discussed sexism in the music industry while residing together in a humble semi-detached house in Maidenhead. They were consistently informed that they wouldn’t grace magazine covers because ‘women don’t sell’, and often encountered disrespectful behavior from male record executives, which fueled their growing frustration.

According to what I’ve been informed, they are said to devote their evenings to brainstorming ways to transform the world into a more favorable environment for women and young girls.

In one of those engaging discussions, it was I who sparked the creation of a phrase that has since echoed around the world – ‘Empowerment of Women.’

When they soared into the stratosphere as the largest girl band ever, they carried along their mantra, embodying all the feminist spirit it symbolized. With heads held high, they proclaimed it everywhere, and fans worldwide eagerly followed suit.

And Geri, or Ginger Spice, was then as vociferous as her band mates.

Geri, well-known for her miniature Union Jack outfit, expressed her desire to invigorate or energize feminism with more vigor.

In my perspective as a lifestyle advisor, when she announced last month that the concept of Girl Power had reached its end, suggesting ‘inner power’ as a more inclusive term for all genders, it left certain members of the band utterly stunned.

Geri Halliwell-Horner, who is now 52 and married to Formula One boss Christian Horner, recently spoke at the launch of her newest children’s book. She explained to her young audience that “Girl Power” was a lovely term for feminism, but when you look it up in the dictionary, you’ll find that feminism means “the promotion of gender equality.

Consequently, regardless of your gender, the concept holds no weight for me; I desire everyone to embrace their inner strength. Thus, let’s transform the phrase “Girl Power” into a more inclusive term like “Innate Power”.

A confidant of some band members, among whom are Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, and Emma Bunton, has shared with me: ‘The band has a song titled “Who Do You Think You Are?” and it’s accurate to say that there are inquiries being made, such as who, in fact, does Geri believe she is?’

Apart from Victoria, all the others take great pride in voicing their support for gender equality and the impact they’ve made on society with a strong, audible voice.

Is it considered acceptable for her to disparage the Spice Girls’ legacy, a group of five powerful women who took pride in being part of and played a significant role in driving change, while giving a speech to boost her own career as an author?

One of the band’s major principles was expressing that women were equally capable, if not more so, than men at achieving their goals – a message they aimed to convey to their audience.

Currently, the identity of women is being challenged, and it’s concerning that she finds it acceptable to dismiss ‘Girl Power’ so openly in such a prominent manner.

A different report stated: ‘Apparently, Geri is found in her high tower, adorned in ivory attire, growing less inclined to be a part of the Spice Girls. It’s her choice – that’s her prerogative – but let’s not make her decision affect the others who continue.’

Clearly, Geri has transformed significantly compared to her days as a 22-year-old. During the peak of her popularity, she was bold, sported eccentric and provocative outfits, and, as one friend who knew her then put it, ‘she didn’t take any nonsense from anyone’.

Currently, her wardrobe consists of a subtle assortment of soft whites and ivories. Additionally, her Instagram posts show glimpses into her life at their shared £7 million Cotswolds estate, where she resides with Red Bull boss Christian, daughter Bluebell, 19 (from a past relationship with British director Sacha Gervasi), son Monty, 8, and herself.

One former associate remarks that during the time when Christian was involved in a scandal related to text messages with a female coworker last year, Geri maintained an unyielding silence. ‘It makes you wonder if Geri would have handled it differently during her peak years as Ginger Spice,’ they quipped humorously.

It appears that Christian may be the explanation for Geri’s growing distance from her bandmates as they draw near to their 30th anniversary.

Last weekend’s festivities for Mel B’s 50th birthday in Leeds were attended by fewer people as Victoria was unable to make it due to other obligations, leaving only Emma and Mel C to celebrate with her.

I’m also told that Geri doesn’t want to join in a hotly anticipated reunion tour.

In my professional opinion, she no longer yearns to return to the days of being Ginger Spice; that role had its moment. Now, she embodies more of an aristocratic, country estate-dwelling woman – a contemporary take on the ‘lady of the manor.’

Yet, it’s rumored that she held a conversation with Simon Fuller – the renowned music producer behind the Spice Girls – regarding their potential replication of Abba Voyage’s massive success.

This virtual project features digital renditions of a Swedish band playing live, and it’s been active for over three years now.

1) Fuller’s company, XIX Entertainment, played a crucial role in bringing about this development. If realized, the revival of the Spice Girls by them would involve all five members at the height of their popularity.

The idea hasn’t been brought up with the band’s representatives yet, but it might provide an opportunity for them to earn income without needing to perform together on stage again.

Should Fuller participate in any upcoming ventures, it could potentially present complications among some members of Geri’s band, as Victoria (aged 50) and her spouse David had a falling-out with the music tycoon back in 2018.

It’s reported that Mel C isn’t fond of XIX Entertainment either, and similarly to Victoria, they both opted to terminate their contracts with the company on their own terms.

As an ardent admirer, I’m sharing this exclusive scoop: Currently, it seems like Victoria, Geri, and Emma aren’t planning to grace the stage again. Mel B appears open to whatever comes her way, while Mel C has made it clear she won’t collaborate with Simon Fuller anymore.

‘Perhaps they could return as digital avatars.’ This way, they wouldn’t physically stand together or need to share spaces like backstage areas or tour buses. It would eliminate any potential disputes, but they could still earn money while not actively performing.

From my perspective as a lifestyle connoisseur, any Spice Girls performance – whether live or virtual – lacking the signature “Girl Power” chant simply feels incomplete.
