It’s often really tough for parents of teenagers to figure out what gifts their kids would actually like for their birthdays.
It’s not easy shopping for a 14th birthday gift, even for superstars like Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who had to find something special for their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, on Tuesday.
She’s lived a remarkably full life, experiencing more in just a few years than many people do over a lifetime.
She’s experienced a luxurious lifestyle, including vacations on yachts, travel by private jet, and attendance at glamorous Hollywood parties.
Even though she’s still young, Blue Ivy is estimated to be worth $500 million. This is separate from the wealth of her parents, both of whom are billionaires.
Yet while she may have had a very charmed upbringing, Blue Ivy is not one to rest on her laurels.

She’s shown a strong work ethic through various jobs, and her talent in music, film, and theater clearly matches that of her parents.
So it seems only fair that Blue Ivy enjoy the results of her hard-earned work.
Blue Ivy quickly became world-famous from the moment she was born, and TIME magazine even called her ‘the most famous baby in the world‘.
Shortly after her birth, her parents tried to trademark her name, but they weren’t able to because a business with the same name, Blue Ivy, already existed.
They’ve now filed for trademarks for ‘Blue Ivy Carter’ to cover things like perfumes, cosmetics, clothing, and entertainment.
When she was just six years old in 2019, Blue Ivy made headlines by bidding $19,000 for a painting at a charity event.
A passionate art collector was set on acquiring an acrylic portrait of a young Sidney Poitier, and she found herself in a fierce bidding battle with an unknown competitor.
The anonymous bidder was revealed to be Tyler Perry, age 56, who was surprised to learn he had been competing with a child.
Tyler revealed on NBC’s Today show that after winning the auction against Blue Ivy, he discovered someone else had been bidding against him, and he wasn’t sure who it was.
The filmmaker noticed her and said, ‘She was taking the paddle from both Jay and Beyoncé and starting to bid.’

Blue Ivy continues to show off her luxurious style, most recently turning heads at the 2022 Wearable Art Gala with her enthusiastic bidding.
When she was ten years old, the girl surprised her grandmother, Tina Knowles, and actress Keke Palmer by casually offering $80,000 for a pair of diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.
But Monique Rodriguez, who started Mielle Organics, outbid the other competitor with a winning offer of $105,000.
Although Blue Ivy wasn’t able to acquire the jewelry herself, her stylist always provides her with beautiful pieces to wear when needed.
The young artist hires Manuel Mendez, who works for Parkwood – Beyoncé’s management company – and is located in New York City.
Blue Ivy has always had her own stylist, Manuel, separate from her mother Beyoncé, who works with Ty Hunter, and her father Jay-Z, who uses June Ambrose.
Blue Ivy has accompanied her parents and younger twin siblings, Sir and Rumi, on trips around the globe.
Over the years, this family has been spotted on luxurious vacations to various destinations, including France, Croatia, and Thailand.

They’ve also taken vacations like a beach getaway in Brazil, a cruise on a luxurious $56 million yacht, and a speedboat tour around the island of Capri in Italy.
In 2014, Beyoncé and Jay-Z had exclusive access to the Louvre Museum, giving her the opportunity to take selfies in front of the Mona Lisa.
Adding to her luxurious lifestyle, Blue Ivy’s father, Jay-Z, owns a $40 million private jet – a Bombardier Challenger 850. It features comfortable amenities like a bedroom, two bathrooms, and a kitchen, and is marked with ‘S. Carter’ in elegant lettering on the exterior.
When they’re not on vacation, the family lives in one of their five large homes – two located in Los Angeles, and one each in New York City, The Hamptons, and Miami.
Sources say Blue’s childhood home in New York featured a lavish $15,000 carriage-shaped cot, and her parents once spent $56,000 on a diamond-studded Barbie doll.
Yet it isn’t all holidays and glitzy parties for Blue Ivy, who is building a career.
Almost immediately after her birth, her sounds – her breaths, cries, and coos – were captured and used by Jay-Z in his 2012 song, “Glory.”
The song reached number 23 on the US rap charts, making Blue Ivy the youngest person ever to appear on a Billboard chart and earning her a Guinness World Record.

Three years after her first featured appearance, Blue Ivy joined a choir on Coldplay’s song “Up&Up,” which also included her mother, Beyoncé.
Even appearing as a featured artist wasn’t enough for Blue Ivy, who wanted to create her own music. In 2019, she collaborated with her mother, Beyoncé, Saint Jhn, and Wizkid on the song “Brown Skin Girl.”
The music video received a Grammy Award, making Blue Ivy, then only nine years old, the youngest person to ever win one. This was her second Guinness World Record.
Blue Ivy made history as the youngest person to ever win an MTV Video Music Award, thanks to the ‘Brown Skin Girl’ music video winning the award for best cinematography.
She also received The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award at the Soul Train Music Awards for helping to write the song.
Blue Ivy’s song “Brown Skin Girl” was a major award winner, earning her a BET HER Award, an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration, and the Soul Train Music Award for Video of the Year.
In addition to her acting work, she co-wrote a song and sang on her mother’s 2019 album, The Lion King: The Gift, and also appeared in the album’s music video.

Blue Ivy isn’t just a talented musician—she’s also an actress! In 2024, she made her first appearance in a feature film, voicing the character of Princess Kiara in Mufasa: The Lion King.
In an interview with Disney Studios, Blue shared that if someone had told her younger self she’d be in a movie, she wouldn’t have believed it.
She described it as a wonderful experience, adding that everyone involved is incredibly helpful and supportive.
It makes me so happy that girls who share my background can watch this movie and finally see themselves represented on screen.
The young performer has also demonstrated her dancing abilities, even joining her mother on stage during her concerts around the globe.
Fans at Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour were so impressed with the young performer that they jokingly called her the ‘ultimate nepo baby.’
To stay prepared for performances with her mother, Blue Ivy dedicated months to rehearsals – practicing for hours each day with choreographer Amari Marshall, all while balancing her schoolwork.
According to a source, she grew up around Beyoncé’s dancers and developed her passion for dance at a very young age.

She’s been training with Amari and began practicing right before Christmas. She’s been dedicating six hours each day to rehearsals, fitting it in around her schoolwork, and has also been learning from her mom’s YouTube tutorials.
She’s been really into Beyoncé’s ‘Destiny Fulfilled’ period lately, and especially loves the ‘Lose My Breath’ music video. Seeing Beyoncé’s dedication has given her a lot of admiration for how hard the singer works, and her own mother remains her biggest role model.
All the hard work preparing for the show was worth it when Blue Ivy surprised the audience by performing alongside her mother during songs like Formation, America Has a Problem, Deja Vu, and Protector. Her sister, Rumi, also joined them on stage for Protector.
‘Blue even had a hand in some of the creative direction of this tour,’ the source said.
AmariMonster, the 31-year-old known as Marshall, quickly praised the teenage performer following her debut on Cowboy Carter, declaring her a standout star.
She shared a video of the teen model, writing that she sees herself as simply a facilitator, there to support and spread positivity. Seeing the teen confidently walk the runway filled her with joy, and she was thrilled to have helped choreograph the routine. She emphasized that the teen’s incredible walk was entirely her own doing – ‘SHE IS THE MOMENT.’
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Marshall began her career performing in Monsters of Hip Hop. She’s since collaborated with major artists like Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga, and even contributed to Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.
The choreographer began dating Beyoncé after successfully auditioning to be one of her dancers for the iconic 2018 Coachella performances – her sister also made the team. Beyoncé was so impressed that she later named her Co-Dance Captain for the hugely successful Renaissance Tour, which grossed $579 million.

According to a source, she wasn’t given any advantages, but some of the dance routines were adjusted to be suitable for children.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z were initially hesitant, but eventually agreed after she asked them to be involved.
As a parent myself, I totally get Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s approach. A source told me they were initially hesitant about Blue Ivy being in the spotlight, but they ultimately agreed to let her perform because she’s a great student. They really prioritize a balanced upbringing for her – they see things like performing and creative expression as just as important as academics. It’s all about nurturing a well-rounded child!
I understand why some people are hesitant about Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s kids being in the spotlight. After the Renaissance album, Blue Ivy joined her mom on tracks like ‘My Power’ and ‘Black Parade,’ and unfortunately, she faced a lot of criticism. It’s natural to be protective when you see a child dealing with public scrutiny, and I think that’s where a lot of the concern is coming from.
Eleven-year-old Blue Ivy faced harsh criticism after her performance was described as lackluster and unpolished. One person even suggested that her famous parentage wasn’t enough to excuse it.
Marshall shared that she used to encourage Blue Ivy by repeating positive statements to her and giving her lots of praise, like a ‘thumbs up’.
She remembered telling her that things would improve as they practiced, but they needed to remain dedicated to rehearsals and ignore outside opinions. She shared this during an interview on the Toure Show last year.
I always wanted to make sure she understood the importance of being herself and owning her own identity. Your name and reputation are uniquely yours, built by your own efforts, even if you come from a remarkable family. You’ll create your own lasting impact on the world.
