House of the Dragon season 3 gets exciting update ahead of its anticipated return

House of the Dragon season three has officially started production.

The news was officially announced in an Instagram video, where actress Emma D’Arcy can be seen holding a clapperboard while dressed as Rhaenyra Targaryen and saying: “House of the Dragon has resumed filming. Today marks the beginning of season three.

Last summer, it was announced that the third season of the “Game of Thrones” prequel series was being renewed, prior to the airing of its second season.

The announcement from HBO’s Francesca Orsi states: “The team’s tremendous dedication in crafting an extraordinary Season 2, which boasts a grandeur comparable to that of dragons and is matched only by its emotional depth,” is truly astonishing.

We’re absolutely ecstatic to carry on the narrative of House Targaryen and see this team shine once more, as they ignite brilliantly for season three.

Alongside actors like D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke (playing Alicent Hightower), and Matt Smith (in his role as Daemon Targaryen), it was recently made official that James Norton, known for his work in Happy Valley, is set to join the cast for season three.

The performer will portray Lord Ormund Hightower of Oldtown, who is currently leading his Hightower forces towards King’s Landing, aiming to bolster his family’s position against Rhaenyra.

The fourth season of “House of the Dragon” has received renewal as well, marking its end as the official conclusion of the show.

During a media gathering last year, showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal announced some exciting news, while also discussing the end of season two and expressing empathy towards book fans who felt let down because they didn’t get to see the epic Battle of the Gullet depicted on screen.

He expressed that what they aimed for was the opportunity and room to execute it in a manner that would thrill and fulfill the fans, and one that is commensurate with its worth. He acknowledged that everyone anticipates its release annually, as he put it.

It’s simply because the series is incredibly intricate that we’re essentially producing numerous full-length films each season. I do apologize for the delay, but let me assure you, if Rook’s Rest and The Red Sowing are any sign, we’re poised to deliver an exceptional climax with Battle the Gullet ahead.

House of the Dragon airs on HBO and Max in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
