House of the Dragon season 3 adds Happy Valley’s James Norton to cast
House of the Dragon has added Happy Valley star James Norton to its season 3 cast.
Last summer, the third installment of the “Game of Thrones” prequel series was given the green light, well ahead of the release of season two.
Francesca Orsi, from HBO, expressed her amazement at the enormous effort the whole team has invested in creating an outstanding Season 2, which is matched in grandeur and emotion only by House Targaryen’s tale. She can’t contain her excitement to carry on this story and witness the team shine again as they prepare for Season 3.
As reported by Variety, in the third season, Norton is set to join the cast and portray Ormund Hightower, the nobleman of Oldtown. This character was previously mentioned in season two, but has not made an appearance on screen thus far.
In the series, Ormund is associated with several characters such as his uncle Otto (Rhys Ifans), his cousins Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne (Freddie Fox). The official character summary goes: “Currently, Ormund is spearheading the Hightower forces in a campaign towards King’s Landing to bolster his family against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).
Previously announced, showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal will be back for the upcoming season, along with franchise writer George RR Martin. It’s anticipated that filming will start in the coming months.
During a press conference in August, Condal addressed how many episodes season three would have.
He hasn’t talked with HBO about it, but he expects the pace of the show, considering its narrative structure, to remain consistent from season two and beyond. This is his viewpoint.
According to the showrunner, it has been disclosed that the series “House of the Dragon” will end with its fourth season. Nevertheless, an official decision regarding the show’s continuation past season three remains unconfirmed at this point.
In the United Kingdom, you can watch seasons 1 and 2 of House of the Dragon on Sky Atlantic, or stream them via NOW. On the other hand, in the United States, it is aired on HBO, with streaming options available on Max.
