Hound 13’s Dragon Sword is launching a Closed Beta Test, with pre-registration opening on May 8

Story Highlights

  • Dragon Sword is an open-world ARPG built using Unreal Engine 5.
  • It builds on the action combat system of Hundred Soul, another title by Hound 13.
  • The studio, formed by ex Eyedentity Games devs behind Dragon Nest, also received investments from Garena for this game.

Starting from May 8, 2025, WEBZEN is inviting players for a closed beta test of its upcoming open-world action RPG titled Dragon Sword. This project, known initially as Project D in 2021, was officially unveiled with a trailer in 2023 and is being developed by Hound 13.

Dive into the kingdom of Orbis, enjoy action-packed strategic battles and adventures

In the realm of gaming, I’ve found myself immersed in an epic open-world ARPG, once known as Project D, now famously called Dragon Sword. This game is brimming with unique action sequences, tactical battles, and a cornucopia of endless adventures. The setting is the ancient kingdom of Orbis, where I assume the role of Lute, a humble traveler who teams up with a band of mercenaries. As our journey unfolds, we transform into the legendary Dragonsword, vanquishing the formidable dragon that terrorized this land.

I’m thrilled to delve into its semi-open environment and engage in its hands-on gameplay filled with thrilling action sequences and distinct strategic battles. What makes me even more ecstatic is that it won’t be a typical RPG where you simply idle, instead, it promises cross-platform compatibility. Additionally, you can create relationships and assemble a charming cast of characters for your team.

Dragon Nest is developed using Unreal Engine 5, with a similar combat system to Hundred Soul

The game appears to draw influence from the widely recognized title, Genshin Impact, and that’s not necessarily a negative aspect. Since it’s being developed using Unreal Engine 5, we can anticipate great things from it. Notably, Hound 13, famous for creating Hundred Soul, consists of developers who previously worked on the successful game, Dragon Nest, under Eyedentity Games.

Exciting news! Dragon Sword is finally ready to kick off its Closed Beta Test (CBT) in the near future, following years of dedicated development. If you’re eager to join the action, pre-registration for the upcoming CBT will begin on May 8, 2025. Keep an eye out for further announcements!
