Honor of Kings Yango Build Guide: Best Arcana, Spells, and Gameplay Tips

Yango is a challenging but strong new hero in Honor of Kings, designed to be played as a Fighter or Assassin. He uniquely battles with a puppet you can control, allowing you to pressure opponents and make surprising moves. What makes Yango really stand out is his ability to not only summon puppets, but also create a copy of any enemy hero! This guide will show you the best Arcana build, optimal spell choices, and key gameplay strategies to help you master Yango and dominate in the Gorge.

Skill Analysis of Yango in Honor of Kings

Passive Skill: Moon’s Farewell

Yango and his puppet gain a 30% chance to earn a Hero Shard and recover health whenever they attack an enemy hero. Instead of recovering health normally, Yango gains Hero Shards. You can collect up to 150 of these shards, and using them transforms the puppet into a copy of an enemy hero. You also automatically gain 1 Hero Shard every 5 to 10 seconds, with the rate increasing as you level up.

The Hero Puppet transforms into a copy of a chosen hero for 10 seconds by using 50 Hero Shards. This puppet has all the same abilities as the original hero, but deals only 50% of the normal damage and receives double the damage. You can improve the puppet’s stats with Yango: each 15 extra Physical Attack increases its damage by 1%, and each 80 extra Health reduces the damage it takes by 2%.

First Skill: Occult Arts – Umbra

Throwing the puppet deals damage to enemies it hits, briefly launching them into the air. After throwing, you take direct control of the puppet. While controlled, the puppet’s attacks deal the same amount of damage as your own. If you recall the puppet, it removes any disabling effects from you, gives you a speed boost for a short time, and provides a shield to protect against incoming damage.

If your puppet is destroyed, you’ll be exposed and stunned for 2 seconds. After that, you can’t summon another puppet for 16 to 20 seconds. Also, if the puppet moves too far away from Yango – beyond 2,500 units – and stays there for 5 seconds, it will automatically be destroyed.

A Normal Puppet copies most of Yango’s equipment bonuses (except for Revive, Blood Fury, Dark Curtain, and Mana Shield). It also gains some of his temporary stat boosts and shares any earned Gold and experience points with him.

Occult Arts – Return (Puppet Form)

This allows you to quickly summon your puppet, dealing damage to enemies it passes over and briefly knocking them back for half a second.

Second Skill: Zhi Chu Luan

Launch up to four paper birds that deal damage to enemies they fly through. If multiple birds hit the same enemy, each additional hit does 50% less damage.

Occult Arts – Substitution (Puppet form)

If the puppet is within 900 units of Yango, it will instantly swap places with him. If it’s farther away, it will move to a spot 900 units from Yango, damaging any enemies it passes through. If the puppet can’t move freely, this ability will instead pull Yango to the puppet’s location and give control back to him.

Third Skill: Occult Arts – Shadow Crucifixion

This ability launches two energy strings that retract, dealing physical damage to enemies they strike. If an enemy is hit by both strings, they take additional physical damage equal to 13% of their current missing health and are slowed down by 30% for 2 seconds.

Occult Arts – Binding (puppet form)

Okay, so my puppet basically smacks nearby enemies, dealing physical damage and slowing them down for a couple of seconds. But here’s the cool part: if I use the skill again pretty quickly – within 3 seconds – it goes into a second phase. After a short pause, the puppet starts rapidly stunning enemies with each hit, and this time it’s magical damage instead of physical. It’s a really good way to lock down a group!

Fourth skill: Occult Arts – Dispersal

This skill lets you quickly disappear, removing any hindering effects, and then reappear at your desired location after a brief moment. However, it won’t remove stun effects from a puppet if it’s destroyed.

Occult Arts – Breakout (puppet form)

The puppet runs forward, damaging any enemies it hits along the way. If the puppet gets stuck or can’t move, control returns to its owner.

Honor of Kings Yango Guide: Gameplay Tips

Early Game

Head to the Clash/Jungle Lane using Yango. At the start of the game, focus on playing safely by repeatedly harassing your opponent with the Puppet created by your first ability. Before using your first ability, make sure Yango’s main body is in a safe location, ideally within range of your turrets or hidden in a bush. This will help prevent enemies from targeting and destroying Yango’s main body instead of the Puppet.

To quickly gather Hero Shards, consistently use your ranged attacks to lightly damage enemy heroes. This will help you unlock the ability to copy heroes with your puppet. When fighting enemies, protect your puppet – if it’s destroyed, Yango will be stunned and become an easy target.

Mid Game

As the game progresses, Yango becomes powerful by dominating fights with his puppet ability. By this point, you should have collected around 50 Hero Shards, allowing you to copy an enemy hero. Choose to copy a hero who deals a lot of damage or has strong control abilities, depending on what your team needs. When you’re controlling an enemy hero as a puppet, quickly use all of their skills, including their ultimate, because the effect doesn’t last very long.

Once you return to your normal Puppet form, certain ability combinations can give you a significant advantage in battle. Use your first ability to summon a puppet, allowing you to safely harass enemies from a distance while keeping Yango safe. While in puppet form, your second ability lets you quickly switch places with your puppet, and your third ability helps you slow down and control opponents during fights.

When playing Puppet, use Skill 1 to quickly return to Yango, particularly when in risky situations. Focus on placing Yango in a safe and advantageous position to improve team rotations, control team fights in the jungle, and safely harass opponents from a distance.

Late Game

As the game goes on, Yango becomes powerful by cleverly switching positions and effectively using his puppet during team fights. By this point, you should have collected enough Hero Shards to copy an opponent. When you do, always pick a hero that will help your team the most. Copying a tough, crowd-controlling hero can be a big boost in fights, while copying a damage-focused assassin can help you take out the enemy’s key players.

Okay, so as a gamer, here’s how I approach team fights: we need to rotate together and focus on the big stuff – like taking down the Overlord or Tyrant – using my puppet. The key is to keep Yango safe while we’re doing it! I try not to just rush in; it’s way more effective to mess with the enemy team, protect our squishier teammates, and create openings for attacks. Later in the game, this skill combo really helps me do all that.
