HoK and KPL break the Guinness World Record for live attendance at an esports event

KPL is the professional league for Honor of Kings, a hugely popular mobile game in China. So, it wasn’t unexpected that so many fans came to watch the championship match between Chengdu AG Super Play and Chongqing Wolves.

Despite everything, tickets for the event sold out in an incredible 12 seconds. A total of 62,196 people attended live, making it the biggest esports tournament audience ever recorded.

The previous record was set at the PES 2016 UEFA EURO 2016 event held in Chap de Mars, France, with a crowd of 45,000 people.

AG Super Play won the championship again, defeating the Wolves and extending their winning streak to six consecutive titles. They remain the dominant team in the league.

KPL 2025 prize pool

The tournament boasted an incredible prize pool of CN¥70 million, which is about US$9.8 million. This makes KPL 2025 the event with the largest prize pool of the year, surpassing both Worlds 2025 (US$5 million) and the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025 (US$3.05 million).

As the winning team, AG Super Play took home the largest portion of the ¥20 million prize pool (around $2.8 million). Xu “YiNuo” Bicheng was named the Most Valuable Player of the Finals and will be honored with a special skin available in the game.
