Honor of Kings invests $15 million into esports expansion, launches regional leagues

2025 calendar for competitive gaming known as The Honor of Kings reveals plans for eight regional competitions, three worldwide championships, and two community-focused activities.

In simple terms, the popular mobile game Honor of Kings (HoK), released by Level Infinite – the publisher behind PUBG MOBILE, is gearing up to expand its global esports presence by putting $15 million USD into it and introducing a tournament format for regional leagues. This move is part of their long-term esports plan announced during the HoK Invitational Season 3 finals held on March 1 in Manila, Philippines.

Six new regional leagues to launch this spring

As a devoted follower, I must say that the unveiling of the Regional Professional Leagues was undoubtedly the star attraction. Ever since the game’s worldwide debut in June 2024, this development has been eagerly awaited!

As a dedicated gamer, I’m pumped to announce that six fresh regional leagues are about to shake up the scene! We’re talking the Philippines Kings League (PKL), Malaysia Kings League (MKL), Indonesia Kings Laga (IKL), Wildcard Kings Series (WKS), Major East League (KME), and Major West League (KMW). These newcomers will join forces with the King Pro League (KPL) in China, and the Honor of Kings Brazil Championship (CHOKBR).

What’s particularly exciting is that some big-name organizations like OG Esports, renowned for their success in Dota 2, have officially hopped on board. This shift promises to bring a breath of fresh air to the competitive landscape, making every match even more thrilling!

In 2025, Honor of Kings will invite chosen teams to join the league, leaving spots in each region available for open competition through qualifying rounds.

Two upcoming global tournaments for 2025, including the EWC

As an enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the regional leagues are building up to two grand global events: the KWC, or Honor of Kings World Cup, and the Honor of Kings International Championship (KIC). These tournaments will unfold at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in July and November. This year, the KWC carries a special significance since for the first time ever, global teams will be squaring off against the champion of the KPL Spring Season in Riyadh.

Although the exact prize amounts for the upcoming tournaments haven’t been revealed yet, there’s much anticipation since past events have yielded impressive prizes. For instance, last year’s King of Warlords Cup (previously known as the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason 2024) had a massive prize pool totaling $3,000,000 USD, while the KIC 2023 set a new record with an astounding $10,000,000 USD prize pool – the highest ever seen in mobile esports.

$15 million investment in the global esports ecosystem

The complete 2025 esports strategy for Honor of Kings, as revealed by James Yang, the senior director of Level Infinite Global Esports Center, features a significant investment of $15 million USD to establish its worldwide esports infrastructure.

Besides the League and International competitions, Honor of Kings offers the Honor of Kings Open Tournament and the Honor of Kings Campus Tournament – these are inclusive events aimed at attracting a wider player base.

1) The “Honor of Kings” Open Series is coming back for Round 4 as a tournament open to the public, with no limitations on rank, enabling players of all abilities to join in. Simultaneously, the Campus Series will be fostered in 92 countries and areas worldwide, offering a collective prize pool of $100,000 USD. Its purpose is to cultivate rising stars and stimulate competitive gaming within educational institutions.
