Honor of Kings announces $15 million investment and a refined league system for its worldwide esports
In a recent development, Honor of Kings unveiled an extensive overhaul to their esports blueprint for 2025. Unlike the earlier plans, this update introduces additional aspects such as improved accessibility, geographic expansion, and enhanced stability. The updates were presented by James Yang, the Senior Director of Global Esports at Level Infinite, who went into detail during the Honor of Kings Invitational 2025 Season 3 event.
This MOBA game is designed with seven professional leagues per region, three international tournaments, and local events to shine a spotlight on underrated talents and amateur players within the official leagues. Additionally, the game promises a stable platform, accessibility for all, and potential for future expansion.
Worldwide leagues and ground-level events will ensure more competition
The current plan for Honor of Kings’ esports events features three major international competitions. Here are their details:
[This maintains the original meaning, but in a more conversational style and with a clearer structure.]
- Honor of Kings Invitational Season 3
- Honor of Kings World Cup (KWC)
- HOK International Championship
On the contrary, seven professional leagues are serving as conduits for these global events. These leagues encompass regions such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, Major East, Major West, and the Wildcard Kings League.
As a gamer, I can tell you that this game puts a lot of emphasis on local happenings and university-level competitions to set up grassroots tournaments. These moves not only help lay a solid base but also boost both players’ and viewers’ engagement. To be specific, the Open Series and The Campus Series (KCS) are the main representatives of the game’s esports scene.
Honor of Kings esports aims at further stability and is expanding its footprints
In simpler terms, “Honor of Kings” is incredibly popular among players, but it’s relatively new in the global esports sphere outside of China. James emphasized that for it to become a significant competitive scene, support from the community, media, and fans is crucial, as he stated, “To foster its growth into a major competitive environment, we require ongoing backing from the community, media, and spectators.
In discussing community gatherings and activities, James highlighted the involvement not only of partner teams but also those who aren’t partners in the competitions. In many professional league events, it’s predominantly partner teams that occupy the majority of seats, which can make it challenging for novice participants to gain entry.

James emphasized that newcomers are always welcome to join as partners with existing teams. He also highlighted the significant role these partner groups play in expanding the brand’s global reach. “Existing teams have made substantial contributions to the ecosystem and plan to continue their involvement in future seasons, barring any major complications,” he added.
Level Infinte’s massive investment is the heart of Honor of Kings esports this year
To bolster all the intended initiatives aimed at expanding and intensifying Honor of Kings’ global influence, Level Infinite has declared an investment of approximately $15 million. This move was also made in 2024, and the funds will now be distributed across the esports ecosystem, serving as its core.
The mobile game “Honor of Kings” has garnered much acclaim and successfully hosted various events worldwide. As we aim to expand further by connecting more international communities and gamers, it appears the game is moving in the correct direction. Consequently, the future looks bright and promising for this game.
