At long last, the much anticipated collaboration between Fate/Stay Night has arrived in the Version 3.4 update of Honkai: Star Rail. This event goes by the name of Fate/Stay Night: Holy Grail War, and it spans from July 11th, 2025, to August 11th, 2025. In this competition-style mode, reminiscent of a tournament, you’ll be forming teams using unique Pieces in order to engage in battles and ascend the reward tier. To access the usual event, simply complete the “Fate/Night in Dreamland Trailblaze Continuance” mission (a component of both the “Sweet Dreams” and “Holy Grail” storylines). If you’re short on time, though, consider using “Finality’s Vision” to unlock it prematurely and dive right in.

In this game, the main action revolves around consecutive one-on-one battles. Each encounter presents a fresh lineup of enemies for you to face. Following each battle, you’ll receive coins that can be used to acquire special items, similar to buffs, which correspond to various character classes such as Saber, Archer, Lancer, and so on. If you accumulate enough of these special items associated with the same class, you trigger a synergy effect, enhancing your team’s overall power.

In addition to that, you’ll have the opportunity to acquire both powerful abilities known as “Special Skills” and “Strategic Castings” while playing. These can significantly alter the course of your gameplay. The “Special Skills” enable you to summon extraordinary attacks or even incorporate characters like Saber and Archer into your team. On the other hand, “Strategic Castings” provide beneficial enhancements or allow you to adjust your tactics dynamically during the game.

Initially, the assorted Pieces may appear somewhat disorganized, but in truth, it’s most effective to concentrate on accumulating a complete set of one specific class so you can unlock their Union. For instance, if I start gathering numerous Archer Pieces, I make a point to collect even more to initiate the full benefit.

  • Rider is wave-clear focused, so they’re great at lower difficulties but kind of fall off later when enemies get tanky. I didn’t stick with them too much, but they’re solid early on.
  • Caster is a good backup class if you don’t get a full Bond going. Their Pieces have strong stats even without the bonus, so I used them to patch up runs where I didn’t get lucky with my main class.

Initially, don’t worry too much about your initial Piece distributions. Instead, concentrate on the class that you receive most frequently and dedicate yourself to building it up. This quickens the process of unlocking the Bond effect, which can significantly shift the course of battles in your favor. Aim to maintain around 7 coins per turn so you can purchase more Pieces.

For your first few rolls, don’t fret about the class distribution too much. Focus on the one you get most often and work to improve it. This will help you unlock a special effect faster, giving you an edge in battles. Try to keep around 7 coins each turn so you can buy more items for that class.

Additionally, remember it’s perfectly fine to swap out your items for improved versions, as you’ll receive all the coins back, making it a risk-free move to adjust your tactics. When selecting spells, opt for those that align with your character class. Certain ones can even boost your connection levels or grant additional Noble Phantasms.

Final Thoughts

All in all, participating in the Fate/stay night event has been a blast and highly satisfying. I’ve truly enjoyed creating diverse squads and tinkering with Class Cards and Bonds. Once I mastered the art of combining the appropriate ones, the fights became significantly simpler and much more thrilling. The event is quite accessible, and the prizes are definitely worth the effort, particularly the Stellar Jade and unique museum items.
