With Version 4.0 of Honkai: Star Rail, Phase 2 banners are now live! They feature the new character Sparxie, along with returning favorites Cerydra, Rappa, and Sparkle. As usual, HoYoverse has combined a new character release with re-runs of popular characters.

I’ll be evaluating each character’s abilities and how well they perform in the game’s future updates, and then I’ll let you know which of the four characters is worth prioritizing. The Phase 2 banners will be available from March 6th to March 26th, 2026.

Who should you pull for in Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.0 Phase 2 Banners

Every character has their own special abilities, but some are more helpful right away and in the long run than others. Here’s a guide to help you choose.

1. Sparxie

Sparxie is a powerful damage-dealing character who uses Fire abilities and follows the Path of Elation. Her gameplay focuses on building and using ‘Punchline’ through her skills and Ultimate ability. She works best with teammates who can quickly generate skill points.

2. Cerydra

Cerydra is a powerful 5-Star support character in Honkai: Star Rail who specializes in boosting the damage of your main attacker, often called a ‘hypercarry.’ She does this with a special buff called ‘Military Merit,’ which significantly increases one ally’s attack power based on Cerydra’s own stats. Plus, whenever that ally attacks, Cerydra also deals extra damage, making her a valuable asset to any team.

She creates Charge Points, and when she has enough, her Military Merit ability transforms into Peerage. This upgrade boosts an ally’s CRIT DMG and RES PEN, and also unlocks Coup de Main. This special ability lets the ally copy and immediately use one of their skills again, creating opportunities for powerful, back-to-back attacks with certain characters. She also gets a significant CRIT DMG bonus based on her ATK, plus a built-in CRIT Rate increase.

3. Rappa

Rappa is a powerful 5-Star support character in Honkai: Star Rail. She’s a ‘Break Damage Dealer,’ meaning she focuses on dealing Imaginary damage to enemies and weakening their defenses, especially in area-of-effect attacks. Her main strength is quickly lowering enemy Toughness, making her very useful in longer battles.

When she exploits an enemy’s Weakness, she deals extra Imaginary Break damage. This damage can then jump to other enemies, making them even more vulnerable.

4. Sparkle

Sparkle is a supportive character in Quantum who specializes in Harmony. She’s designed to help teammates who excel at using their skills, offering a flexible toolkit to boost their performance.

Sparkle is a great support character for damage-dealing units who use a lot of Skill Points. She can let an ally take their turn sooner. Plus, whenever any ally uses Skill Points, she increases the damage for the whole team and adds a Critical Damage bonus.

Final Thoughts

How well new characters perform depends on your player account and the subscription plan you have for Honkai Star Rail. Sparxie is a strong damage dealer, but she works best with Yao Guang and characters who can quickly build up Skill Points, like Sparkle.

Cerydra is generally a slightly better choice between the two. She boosts a character’s attack power, and also increases the team’s critical hit damage and rate. Rappa is a solid option if you need a dependable character to damage multiple enemies at once, especially if you don’t have a team built around breaking enemy defenses.
