In this new update, Version 3.1, for the game Honkai: Star Rail, the long-awaited five-star character, Mydei, is now available. Mydei is an Imaginary character walking the Path of Destruction. This comprehensive guide on building Mydei in Honkai: Star Rail will provide you with a detailed analysis of his skills and suggest optimal configurations to maximize his potential.

Mydei Gameplay

Mydei is an exceptional unit, known for swiftly depleting Health Points (HP) to empower his destructive Godslayer assaults. His abilities primarily focus on his speed of turns, HP consumption, and the duration of buffs, all while maintaining effectiveness in battle.

Basic Attack

Mydei’s basic attack deals Imaginary damage to a single enemy based on his max HP.

Skill

Mydei’s initial ability, “Death Comes in Multitudes,” or simply put, “Many Deaths Await,” drains half of his existing health to inflict substantial damage on a single opponent and reduced damage on those nearby. If Mydei doesn’t have enough health, this skill will ensure he only has 1 HP remaining.

Mydei possesses an auxiliary ability named “Kingslayer Be King,” which functions in a manner similar to his primary skill but uses 35% of his current health. This skill inflicts greater damage on a single enemy and additional damage on surrounding foes. If Mydei’s health is insufficient, it also brings him down to 1 HP.

Another extraordinary third ability, known as “Godslayer,” becomes active once it accumulates 150 Charge points. This potent skill unleashes immense damage onto a singular target and substantial harm to adjacent foes. However, during its activation, it prevents further Charge accumulation.

Ultimate

In simpler terms, when Mydei executes his ultimate ability, he recovers some health, gains 20 Charge points, inflicts significant Imaginary damage on a single opponent and moderate damage to those around them. For the subsequent two turns, these enemies will prioritize attacking Mydei. Additionally, the next time Mydei uses “Godslayer Be God”, it will be directed towards the enemy that was most recently attacked.

Technique

His method, known as the “Cage of Shattered Spears,” attracts surrounding adversaries and momentarily immobilizes them. If he engages in combat with stunned opponents, he inflicts Phantom damage on all of them, provokes them for a single turn, and accumulates 50 Charge points.

When leveling Mydei’s abilities, prioritize Skill > Ultimate >Talent > Basic Attack

Traces

  • Earth and Water: This Trace gives a boost to Mydei’s “Vendetta” state. He will not exit the “Vendetta” state when receiving a killing blow.
  • Thirty Tyrants: While in the “Vendetta” state, Mydei is immune to Crowd Control debuffs.
  • Bloodied Chiton: This Trace increases Mydei’s Max HP, Mydei’s CRIT Rate, his Charge ratio from enemy targets’ DMG, and his Incoming Healing.

Among the Traces, priority should be Bloodied Chiton > Earth and Water > Thirty Tyrants

Honkai Star Rail Mydei Best Relics and Planar Ornaments

In the Honkai: Star Rail Mydei Build Guide, we’ll explore the ideal relics, primary attributes, and planar ornaments to optimize for Mydei. Since Mydei is a DPS unit that primarily relies on his abilities and health points (HP), it’s crucial to consider these aspects when building him.

Prioritize maxing his HP till you hit at least 8k HP, afterwards focus on other stats.

  • Body (HP/Crit%)
  • Feet (Speed>HP)
  • Planar Spear (HP%/DMG)
  • Link Rope (HP)

Relic Set

Scholar Lost in EruditionThe 4-piece Scholar Lost in Erudition is the optimal choice for Mydei. Mydei is all about using his skills and ultimates frequently, making this set his best choice. The set enhances his playstyle by providing the necessary boosts for his abilities.
Longevous DiscipleIf you cannot get a full Scholar set, the next best options are Longevous Disciple or a mix of two-piece sets that offer useful bonuses. However, the Scholar set is so powerful that farming it should be a top priority.

Planar Ornaments

Bone Collection’s Serene DemesneFor Planar Ornaments, Mydei works best with this planar ornament which complement his damage potential seeing as how it scales with his Max HP.
Rutilant ArenaRutilant Arena increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 70% or higher, DMG dealt by Basic ATK and Skill increases as well.

Honkai Star Rail Mydei Best Light Cone

Flame of Blood, Blaze My Path (Mydei’s 5-Star Signature)Mydei’s signature light cone is by far his best option. It provides the highest base HP among all light cones, additional max HP, and an incoming healing buff. More importantly, it introduces a new mechanic that allows Mydei to consume HP when using skills or his ultimate, enhancing his charge accumulation and overall power. Additionally, it grants a massive 60% DMG buff to attacks that consume HP, making it significantly stronger than standard limited 5-star light cones.
The Unreachable Side (5*)If you do not have his signature light cone, the next best option is Blade’s light cone, which also benefits from HP scaling.
A Secret Vow (4*)Increases DMG dealt by the wearer. The wearer also deals an extra DMG to enemies whose current HP percentage is equal to or higher than the wearer’s current HP percentage.
Ninja Record: Sound Hunt (4*)Increases the wearer’s Max HP. When losing or restoring this unit’s HP, increases CRIT DMG by lasting for 2 turns. This effect can only trigger once per turn.

Best Team Comps for Mydei in Honkai Star Rail

Mydei is an exceptional unit that specializes in draining health points (HP) to power up his destructive Godslayer attacks. The best teams for him focus on increasing his turn rate, HP consumption, and the duration of his buffs while keeping him effective in battles. Here’s a detailed look at his ideal team compositions and interactions.

On Sundays, he finds the most effective use as a primary supporter. Increased rotations lead to higher Health Point depletion, Charge accumulation, and Godslayer assaults. Sunday offers the strongest hyper buffs in the game with extended durations and additional energy, making sure that Godslayer focuses on the appropriate targets.

As a fan, I’d say, “Both Remembrance MC (RMC) and Sparkle offer solid options when it comes to replacing Sunday. RMC shines with its ability to deliver powerful action advance buffs, while Sparkle offers the tantalizing prospect of a hyperspeed setup.

Tribbie excels as a top-tier secondary support thanks to her consistently high availability and strong ability to boost damage. Unlike many other characters who concentrate on attack boosts, which can sometimes be excessive, Tribbie offers distinctive bonuses that amplify Mydei’s offensive potential.

As a gamer, I’ve found that Luocha and Gallagher truly shine in this game, especially with Mydei’s relentless assaults. But if you’re in need of widespread healing for your team, Luocha continues to be a top-tier pick.

Is Mydei Worth Pulling?

In the game mode Memory of Chaos (MOC), Mydei stands out as an exceptionally powerful Damage Per Second (DPS) character. His unique trait of taking multiple turns positions him as a prime choice in this specific game setting. Yet, in Pure Fiction, he falls short of expectations. Despite numerous attempts by different teams, Mydei fails to dish out enough damage in this mode. At his first upgrade level (E1), his performance noticeably improves, but it requires further investment.

In the game “Apocalyptic Shadow“, Mydei holds his ground fairly well, though he’s not the top-tier character. This implies that he might outshine himself against other bosses down the line, and future exhibitions could reveal his hidden potential in various encounters.

If you’re thinking about supporting him, he’s a fantastic choice for MOC as a hypercarry, but his effectiveness varies depending on the situation elsewhere. With thoughtful team composition and investment, Mydei can rank among the game’s top DPS options. His unique mechanics and synergies set him apart, and future content might enhance his potential even more.
