Homes Under The Hammer’s Martin Roberts left wincing by two seriously dangerous problems with property – but would you have spotted them?

As someone who has spent decades delving into the nooks and crannies of properties across the UK, I can confidently say that my latest discovery left me more than just a tad concerned. The semi-detached house on Homes Under The Hammer had all the makings of a solid investment – until Martin Roberts pointed out those ominous ceiling cracks.

On the BBC program “Homes Under The Hammer,” host Martin Roberts was taken aback and worried when he discovered two potentially hazardous issues within a property under inspection.

As a devoted admirer, I found myself wandering through a semi-detached property going under the hammer at £115,000, evaluating the potential it held before someone else could claim it as their own.

Initially, everything appeared promising, but soon after Martin went up the stairs, things began to deteriorate rapidly.

He stopped, wearing a worried look, upon noticing something troubling in the stairway.

Perplexed, the speaker questioned, “Just hold on for a moment, let me clarify something first, as it seems rather concerning.”

Indicating toward the ceiling, he disclosed, “There are numerous fissures in this wall. Here, you can see one that stretches from this point up to the ceiling over there, and continues its path down yonder.”

1. It’s located on the final wall I encountered. This is peculiar because I didn’t notice anything en route. I’ll have to investigate further.

Surprised, Martin descended the stairs once more to check if the cracks on the building’s exterior could be seen.

Standing out in my front yard, I couldn’t help but look skyward, muttering to myself, “Well, I guess it’s no wonder I missed it at first glance. It’s so intricately hidden.”

He added: “What worries me is the presence of manhole covers scattered around, suggesting there might be a drain connecting those two locations.”

It seems strange that the suspected minor settling has occurred precisely at this location. Therefore, have someone inspect the drainage system there to ensure there isn’t any water leakage coming from it.

As a conscientious supporter, I would recommend you consider seeking professional advice from a structural surveyor for your peace of mind. They will likely install small devices on the walls to track if the crack is worsening over time.

As the presenter continued speaking, I found myself feeling more optimistic, for they described the remainder of the property as ‘showing great potential thus far,’ with the exception of the concerning cracking problem.

Unfortunately he soon stumbled across another issue that was impossible to ignore – asbestos.

He walked up to the garage and said, “There’s another garage that’s wider than the small entrance road leading to it, but that’s not my primary focus. What really matters is the condition of the roof.”

It seems undeniably like the roof is made of asbestos, which means it should be handled by a qualified and specialized firm to ensure its safe removal.

At the finale, I discovered that a fellow, named Tim, shelled out an impressive £116,000 for the property, planning to stick to a £25,000 budget for renovations over the next six months, aiming to create a stunning transformation!

Following Tommy Walsh, Martin’s co-presenter, being taken aback by a contentious aspect discovered during a recent property renovation project, the event occurs right after that.

On the BBC daytime show, an amusing incident was labeled as a “first” and left the host speechless with astonishment.

Recently, as a lifestyle connoisseur, I had the pleasure of exploring a charming three-bedroom semi-detached home nestled in the heart of Hilgay, a quaint village in Norfolk, just a stone’s throw away from the vibrant town of Downham Market to the north.

The star was faced with a very bizarrely placed ‘open plan’ shower, sitting right in the middle of the landing.

Surprised, the speaker exclaimed: “Wow, I’ve never encountered this before – open-concept showers!”

‘I’ve never, ever seen a shower on a landing, all open to everyone. Not very private is it?’
