Home Town’s Erin Napier Reveals Why Their ‘Work Never Stops’ and It’s Stressful
As a dedicated movie-goer with an eye for quality home improvement content, I must admit that no current series on HGTV has quite captured my heart like the enchanting “Home Town.” With Season 9 recently drawing to a close and a brief hiatus before Season 10 graces our screens in 2025, it’s become abundantly clear that hosts Ben and Erin Napier never truly rest.
Erin herself has shared her insights on the relentless nature of their work, and let me tell you, just contemplating the magnitude of their renovation projects leaves me with a cold sweat!

What Did Erin Napier Say About Doing Renovations For Home Town?
Across nine seasons, Ben and Erin Napier (who started working on homes together before Home Town began in 2016) have helped dozens of people in Laurel, Mississippi find properties that could be turned into their dream homes. While preparing for the Season 9 finale, the busy mom of Helen and Mae took to Instagram to promote the show, and revealed that new episodes will start up again sometime this winter. However, knowing that fans would think that meant that she and Ben would get a long break this year, the children’s book author cleared up that assumption by adding:
PS I know it may seem like this implies a vacation, but mostly it signifies that a full year is required to renovate the homes we see on screen in half that time. Therefore, the work continues unabated, it just switches from construction to filming 😄
Sure thing! Erin recognizes that while appearing on an HGTV series may seem like a dream job, it’s important for fans to understand that she works throughout the entire year, just like any other professional.
It’s quite possible that many viewers aren’t fully aware that when they see the Napiers managing various deliveries of damaged tiles, dealing with storm damage to houses they’ve recently repaired, and facing other unexpected challenges, they are actually handling tasks for numerous clients simultaneously. Moreover, what we’re observing on the show Home Town occurred months prior to its broadcast. Since they’ve been working on this series for almost a decade, this implies that they must be constantly engaged in renovating homes within their small town, every month and week.
The routine lifestyle of the pair, who often respond to unkind comments on social media, doesn’t cause me worry, per se. What does give me concern is the notion of spending every waking moment dealing with contractors, making design decisions, managing clients, dealing with sawdust, old homes infested with bats and other wildlife, and all the pressures that come from renovating houses day in and day out!
It’s astonishing how I neglected a wobbly doorknob in my home, letting it hang precariously close to falling off its hinge, all because I wasn’t keen on fetching a screwdriver. I’d arrange pictures and artwork beautifully, only to leave them stacked in a corner for weeks on end because hanging things up properly requires finding the studs, leveling everything, measuring accurately, ensuring the right kind of frame screws are used…Just thinking about managing extensive renovations on numerous properties 24/7 is overwhelming. I can barely fathom decision fatigue!
Clearly, all their projects are based in their hometown, which means they’ve built a reliable team of associates over time – these individuals often appear on the series and assist with planning, installation, decision-making, and countless other tasks. Additionally, there’s an entire film crew and production staff who manage the television side of their work.
It’s quite evident that the work performed by Ben and Erin is demanding, both physically and mentally. Regardless of having assistance, I believe it would overwhelm me. Therefore, it’s fortunate that I can merely enjoy their endeavors through Home Town, feeling secure in the knowledge that they possess the expertise to achieve fantastic results without either of them losing their minds.
