Adam Hyde cut a lonely figure on Monday night as he hit the movies solo.
The 35-year-old musician attended the premiere of ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere’ by himself, as his girlfriend, Abbie Chatfield, didn’t join him on the red carpet.
The lead singer of Peking Duk playfully posed for photos in front of the media backdrop, looking sharp in a brown striped suit.
He paired a white tank top with black loafers, showing off his chest.
Adam wore a few silver rings and let his curly hair fall naturally around his face.
The singer, known for his song ‘Dancing2’, is releasing a solo project while his girlfriend, a podcast host, recovers from a recent loss in a highly publicized defamation lawsuit.
Chatfield has confessed to making false and damaging statements about a former close friend, claiming he supported genocide and the killing of children.
A social media influencer has been ordered to pay $79,000 to Heath Kelley, a law student and former Virgin Australia employee, after agreeing to a court decision against her.
In addition to other penalties, the court has ordered Chatfield to cover Kelley’s legal fees, which are around $30,000. This brings Chatfield’s total expenses in the case to over $100,000.
Kelley filed a defamation lawsuit against Chatfield because his legal team sent her a letter claiming her online statements about him were untrue and couldn’t be justified.
Chatfield didn’t dispute the allegations, and on Thursday afternoon, Judge Wendy Abraham issued orders based on their agreement.
On May 7th, around 5:30 PM, a 30-year-old Instagram user with approximately 550,000 followers posted untrue and damaging statements about Kelley on her Instagram Stories.
Chatfield publicly expressed support for Adam Bandt, the Greens leader, after he lost his seat in Melbourne to Labor’s Sarah Witty in the 2025 federal election.
Kelley, a friend of Chatfield’s since around 2011 when they were in school together, sent her a private message with a video and a comment about Mr. Bandt.

Okay, so then more DMs started flying between me and Kelley! And honestly? I couldn’t help but screenshot everything and share it with everyone because it was *that* good. I just had to let all my fellow fans in on it, you know?
Chatfield: ‘Why are you sending me this.. ? Are you pro Israel? Gross.’
I’m sharing this because it’s great news that he was voted out of office. I’ll be able to rest easier knowing the Jewish community in Melbourne will feel more secure now that he’s no longer in power.
He added that, as someone who supports LGBTQ+ and women’s rights, he supports Israel, having visited the region twice.
Chatfield: ‘Okay so you’ve lost the plot. By (sic) dude lmao.’
The former Bachelor star then shared screenshots of her conversation with Kelley on her Instagram Stories, publicly calling him out and tagging his account.
She shared a post saying she couldn’t believe she was being contacted by an old high school acquaintance—someone she hadn’t spoken to in years! It had been at least three years, and possibly six or seven, since they last talked.
Someone who supports harmful ideologies is now strangely criticizing me because a compassionate and forward-thinking politician almost lost an election.

This is deeply unpleasant and reveals a lot about the person saying it, particularly their lack of understanding and compassion. Claiming Adam Bandt poses a danger to anyone is completely unreasonable.
It’s disturbing to hear that this person apparently supports violence against children. Those who know him describe behavior that goes so far as wanting to cut ties with people he doesn’t even know, which is very strange and concerning.
Chatfield and Kelley were once so close, their friendship sparked rumours of a romance.
In 2019, Chatfield and Kelley caused a stir when they appeared in a suggestive video online. During the dance, Chatfield openly expressed her affection for Kelley and the song they were dancing to.
Chatfield, recently a contestant on The Bachelor, immediately went public to say she and Kelley were not dating, explaining Kelley had been her close friend for a decade.
In her lawsuit, Kelley described Chatfield as a popular figure known for her work on social media, reality TV, and radio.
The statement alleged that Chatfield had accused Kelley of backing violence in Palestine, specifically the killing of women and gay men, and the harming of children, even amounting to genocide.
On the same day she posted the untrue statements, Chatfield also shared a video continuing to criticize Kelley.

She continued, saying, “Honestly, I’m not surprised you became someone who trolls people on the right wing. That’s just what I always expected from you…”
I clearly misjudged how problematic you are, which is why I ended our friendship. And frankly, the people you associate with are completely unhinged.
I want to be clear: Heath Kelley supports genocide. If you’re friends with him, especially if you went to high school with him, I urge you to rethink that relationship.
The Story remained live on Chatfield’s Instagram until at least 1.15pm on May 8.
Kelley claimed Chatfield’s comments could significantly damage his reputation, citing her large number of Instagram followers as the reason.
The two used to have between 130 and 150 Instagram followers in common, so the Story was probably seen by a large portion of Kelley’s online friends.
Kelley also accused Chatfield of betraying his trust by sharing their private conversations publicly.
The publication of the story has severely damaged Mr. Kelley’s reputation, causing him significant embarrassment, hurt, and ongoing harm. He claims it has exposed him to hatred, ridicule, and contempt, and will continue to cause him loss and damage.

Kelley stated that the harm was made worse when Chatfield shared their private messages, identified him publicly, and tagged his personal Instagram profile.
Chatfield made the situation worse by having her lawyer send a letter to Kelley’s lawyers on May 30th, responding to a notice of concern.
The letter described Mr. Kelley’s warning as a form of “extortion” and claimed he was trying to profit from his previous relationship with Ms. Chatfield.
Kelley’s letter explained that he and Chatfield were close friends until 2021, and during that time, Chatfield frequently socialized with their client, both in groups and individually.
The friendship involved several instances of support, including driving you to the hospital in Brisbane, celebrating your birthday in 2020, sharing accommodation with you that same year, and talking about your finances.
We both lived in Sydney for a while, and that’s when our friendship slowly started to fade. We kept in touch with the occasional friendly Instagram message here and there, but it really trailed off by 2022.
I was pretty surprised by something I saw online. While it’s true they said you hadn’t spoken to our client for three years, which seemed right, the claim that you hadn’t talked for six or seven *before* that just didn’t add up. It felt completely inaccurate, and I wanted to point it out.
According to the letter, Kelley hadn’t publicly commented on the Middle East conflict on social media. However, he had privately told Chatfield he leaned towards supporting Israel, explaining this was because he also championed LGBTQ+ and women’s rights.
The letter further claimed Chatfield acted hypocritically by calling Kelley a troll, and then publicly attacking Kelley herself in front of her large online following.
Since appearing on The Bachelor, Sophie Monk has continued to be a popular television personality. She’s been on shows like Bachelor in Paradise and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, hosted Love Island Afterparty, and served as a panelist on The Masked Singer.
