Home and Away’s Ada Nicodemou admits the heartbreaking loss of her stillborn son Harrison was the ‘lowest time’ of her life: ‘It was really scary’

As an ardent fan of Ada Nicodemou, I am always moved by her strength and resilience that she has displayed throughout her journey. Her recent candid interview about the heartbreaking loss of her stillborn son Harrison is a poignant reminder of the depth of emotions that she has navigated with grace and courage.

Ada Nicodemou has candidly opened up about the heartbreaking loss of her stillborn son Harrison.

In 2014, during the eighth month of her pregnancy, the actress from Home and Away, who is now 47 years old, and her former husband, Chrys Xipolitas, tragically lost their son Harrison, as he was born stillborn.

On August 7, Ada will mark the tenth year since a terrible event occurred. She’s courageously looked back at the challenging period in her life during a comprehensive interview, discussing it candidly.

In a conversation with Tiffiny Hall on the Bounce Forward podcast, Ada shared that the loss of Harrison marked the most difficult period in her life. During those times, she experienced a disconnection from the world around her, feeling as though she was detached from reality.

She confided that it was undeniably the most challenging period of her life, a time that left her feeling utterly terrified. It was as if she had stepped outside herself during this phase, with others speaking around her – though vivid details are hazy, she recalls feeling unusually detached from the situation.

As a lifestyle guide, I must confess, the events unfolding before me were nothing short of surreal – a cinematic tale I never wished to star in. The script seemed twisted, more fitting for a horror flick than my life story. Time felt elusive as I grappled with this sudden turn of events. I can’t help but wonder if one truly ever recovers from such trials.

During a challenging phase, Ada found strength and motivation each morning with the help of her two-year-old son, Johnas. He was instrumental in giving her the courage she needed to face each new day.

She admitted that it was honestly John who helped her get through tough times, as she had a two-year-old to take care of.

As a lifestyle advocate, I’ve found myself frequently engaging with an extraordinary individual who has become my daily motivation. Through our conversations, he’s instilled in me the strength to rise each morning and continue my journey. To this very moment, his wisdom remains a guiding force in my life.

Reflecting on the decade since my beloved partner Harrison left us, I’ve found that my grief has evolved significantly over time. Here’s a glimpse into my journey.

As the anniversary of Harrison approaches, I find myself grappling with the anticipation each year. The days leading up to it can be challenging, but when that special day arrives, it seems to transform in its own unique way every time.

Ada and her ex-husband Chrys first discovered they’d fallen pregnant with Harrison in 2014.

In March of that particular year, they revealed to New Idea in an interview that they were expecting their second child.

However, several months passed before the couple sadly announced that their baby, Harrison, was born lifeless on August 7, 2014.

Previously, Ada experienced a miscarriage, but later in the year 2012, she gave birth to her 12-year-old child Johnas via In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

Towards the end of 2015, Ada and Chrys announced they were ending their nine-year long marriage. They made this announcement public only a few months later.

After a relationship spanning eight years, Ada was with wealthy entrepreneur Adam Rigby. However, they parted ways near the end of last year’s Christmas season.

After that incident, she rekindled her love life with her Home and Away colleague James Stewart. Their romantic involvement became public knowledge when they were spotted sharing a kiss on Anzac Day.

They’ve been acquainted since 1998, when they shared a role in the brief Channel Ten soap opera Breakers. Since 2016, they’ve both been regular cast members on Home and Away.

Last week, when Ada finally spoke up about her relationship with James, she called it ‘surprisingly blooming’.

She shared with Stellar Magazine that Jimmy and I are in a relationship. It’s still quite new, having just happened recently and without much warning. However, I couldn’t be happier about it. It’s truly delightful.

I’ve made it clear that the on-screen marriage of Leah Patterson and Justin Morgan in Home And Away wasn’t an early indication of a real-life romance between us.

The wedding episode was broadcasted on April 9, although it had been recorded approximately six months prior. Ada maintained that the authentic emotions portrayed didn’t surface until a later period.

In retrospect, it appears that those emotions were merely for the screen back then. You see, the scenes we shared as a duo on that show were filmed over a year ago. Yet, as an ardent admirer, I can’t help but ponder if the bond we portrayed was truly heartfelt. After all, when we spectators gaze upon any television couple, there’s always a lingering question in our minds: are their feelings authentic?

The pair started seeing each other following Ada’s separation from Adam Rigby, and James’ divorce from Sarah Roberts being finalized in March.

Reports indicate that they may officially debut their romantic relationship publicly for the first time at the 2024 Logie Awards, scheduled on August 18.
