Home and Away stars Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor announce their engagement in heartwarming post – as she showcases her eye-popping diamond ring

Home and Away stars Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor have announced their engagement.

I was so thrilled to see Sophie, 32, announce her engagement! She shared the most adorable photos on social media Saturday night – you can really feel the love in every one. It looks like the proposal was absolutely perfect!

A heartwarming photo captured the moment 33-year-old Patrick proposed to Sophie on a beautiful Sydney beach.

A lovely photo showed the happy couple kissing as the sun set, creating a beautiful scene.

Oh my gosh, you guys, she posted a picture of the RING! It’s absolutely HUGE – seriously, the diamond is insane! And the band? Pure gold, so elegant and perfect. I’ve been staring at it for like, twenty minutes. It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of for her, and honestly, for myself too! I need one just like it!

The couple seemed incredibly happy and in love while looking at the photos, and the proposal happened after they’d been dating for several years.

Sophie shared a heartfelt message with a collection of photos: ‘Home has always been with you,’ and included a diamond ring and heart emoji.

Many of their celebrity friends took to the comments section to offer their well wishes.

Georgie Parker, who worked with the couple on ‘Summer Bay,’ expressed her enthusiastic congratulations, saying she couldn’t be more thrilled for them.

‘Awww loads of love to you both! How wonderful,’ series veteran Lynne McGranger added.

‘Omg so excited for u both!!!!!! Love you both xx,’ Sarah Roberts chimed in.

In 2021, Sophie shared that she felt fortunate to be working with her partner, Patrick, on the show Home and Away.

They began dating in real life after their characters, Ziggy and Dean, became a couple on the show.

Honestly, when she said the secret to their relationship was being best friends first, I nearly cried! It just makes so much sense. And the way she talks about him now? She gets to spend all her time with her best mate – it’s seriously the sweetest thing ever, and she keeps saying how lucky she is. It’s just…goals, you know? I’m completely obsessed with how perfect they are!

Sophie explained in an interview with The Daily Telegraph that after their characters became a couple on screen, she and her co-star also started dating. She added that they were already close friends, which made the transition to a relationship much easier. They now spend almost all their time together.

She explained that the actors don’t let disagreements from the show affect their personal lives or jobs, which is even more important now that their characters are no longer together on screen.

‘When we’re at home, we’re Paddy and Sophie. At work, we’re Ziggy and Dean,’ Sophie said.

Oh my gosh, it’s like… when I get to sit in that makeup chair for a whole hour and they’re doing my hair and makeup – which, let me tell you, is not my everyday look – and then I get into the costume… it’s just… everything changes! It’s a total transformation, honestly. But the best part? At the end of the day, when I finally wash all the makeup off and change out of the clothes, it feels like I’m actually shedding the character. It’s like taking off a second skin, and it’s… amazing.

Sophie recently shared with The BINGE Guide how she’s successfully navigated her relationship with a coworker, finding a good balance between their personal connection and working together.

They have known each other for over a decade and even went to the same acting school in Queensland.

Sophie started playing Ziggy a little before Patrick did, joining the cast in June 2017.
