Home and Away stars Rebecca Breeds and Luke Mitchell reveal they are expecting their first child
As a longtime fan of Home and Away, I am absolutely thrilled to hear about Rebecca Breeds and Luke Mitchel’s exciting news! Their love story started on the small screen and it’s heartwarming to see it evolve into something even more beautiful off-screen.
Home and Away stars Rebecca Breeds and Luke Mitchel are expecting their first child.
On Tuesday, Rebecca, aged 37, posted a picture on Instagram where she’s smiling and holding her expanding belly, which was noticeable in a formal setting on the red carpet at the Adelaide Film Festival.
In a breathtakingly beautiful, high-slit white dress, Rebecca radiated joy as she gracefully struck poses for the camera-wielding photographers.
In the caption, Rebecca announced exciting news about her upcoming movie “Kangaroo Island” simultaneously.
Rebecca’s thrilled to reveal the arrival of baby Mitchell and the upcoming release of ‘Kangaroo Island Movie’ soon! Many thanks to AdlFilmFest for hosting us, and to all who showed their support,” (paraphrased version)
The post was met with a flurry of congratulations from followers including her former Home And Away co-star Lynne McGranger.
‘Congratulations Bec and Luke, very exciting news,’ the actress wrote.
Todd Lasance, known for his role as Aidan Ross on Home and Away, extended his heartfelt congratulations with the following enthusiastic message: “Yippee!!!!! Bravo to you both! I’m incredibly excited for your success!
Luke, in addition to posting a picture on his Instagram Stories, also announced the news to his vast group of followers.
‘I’m the luckiest man, husband and soon-to-be dad in the universe,’ he excitedly wrote.
The pair, who starred as Ruby Buckton and Romeo Smith respectively, found love on the Channel Seven soap before Luke popped the question in 2012.
They tied the knot a year later, in January 2013.
The duo moved to the United States, with Rebecca landing roles like the renowned Clarice Starling in the TV adaptation of Silence of the Lambs titled Clarice on CBS, and as Nicole in the series Pretty Little Liars.
Following his relocation to America, Luke landed parts on TV shows like The CW’s Tomorrow People and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well.
The couple relocated back to Australia around three years ago.
In 2023, Rebecca told TV Week the move home had been ‘good for the soul.’
‘It’s been really, really nice just to ground ourselves and be back home,’ she said.
After years of dreaming, I’ve now got a garden! It’s always been my wish to grow a vegetable garden. Now, we’re actually setting our roots at home once more, which has been incredibly comforting for my spirit.
She mentioned that having Luke with her significantly facilitated her time in the U.S.
Speaking from personal experience, there’s nothing quite as comforting as having a steady presence amidst the whirlwind of change – someone who serves as both a secure anchor and a familiar home base when you find yourself navigating unfamiliar territory, having to leave behind all that you’ve ever known.
‘Our industry has a lot of pressure and a lot of highs and a lot of lows. It can be very lonely.’
