Home and Away star sentenced to six months behind bars

Home and Away actor Orpheus Pledger is heading to jail over a raft of court order violations.

After wasting an opportunity to change his life, the 32-year-old is sentenced to a six-month term without parole, taking into account the 127 days he has already served.

Originally sentenced to seven months in jail for attacking a woman on two occasions in March, the troubled performer’s punishment was later changed to a two-year community correction order in Victoria County Court, three months after the initial verdict in August 2024.

According to a report by The Herald Sun, he appeared in court again on Monday due to breaching the terms set in his parole agreement.

These included 19 unexplained absences and the use of methamphetamine and cannabis.

Court documents state that Pledger was apprehended on June 23rd due to his revisit to the residence of the person he harmed.

After the woman called triple-O to alert authorities, Pledger was taken to the hospital.

Judge Michael Tinney said that Pledger had completed 30 of his 150 hours of community service.

As a devoted admirer putting forth my own perspective, I must say that, in complying with the terms set forth in Pledger’s order, I found myself grappling with two formidable challenges: health hurdles and transportation troubles.

The court also heard that Pledger was ‘ducking and weaving’ around obligatory drug tests.

For the duration of his court order, Pledger, a person taking antipsychotic medication, lowered his dosage without informing his doctor about it.

The report states that the lawyer for the former soap star claimed in court that Pledger was unaware of the gravity of his court ruling.

The judge cautioned Pledger, expressing that he had wasted his chance, as given by the court’s decree.

Pledger was arrested in March 2024 after attacking a woman on two occasions. 

In one instance, a motion-triggered camera partially recorded the event, showing Pledger forcibly pulling the woman by her hair to the ground and violently pounding on her head.

In late April, I was granted bail to undergo a medical evaluation due to worries about my mental well-being. However, I chose to elude authorities, leading to an ensuing manhunt.

As a devoted adherent, I confess to the accusations of negligently inflicting harm and illegally attacking others. My legal representative clarified that my drug consumption has spiraled out of control over the past few years.

At the tender age of nine, Pledger made his acting debut in commercials and television shows like Silversun. In 2011, he secured a role in the long-running soap opera, Neighbours.

He later played the role of Mason Morgan on Home and Away from 2016 to 2019.
