Home and Away is leaving Summer Bay behind for the first time in 36 years. 

Since its debut in 1988, the popular Australian daytime drama series has been shooting scenes at Palm Beach, located within Sydney’s Northern Beaches region.

But now the show is heading west – to Western Australia, to be precise. 

Yet, this isn’t a long-term relocation; instead, it involves a thrilling narrative, as Channel Seven refers to it as a “dramatic plot twist” that will unfold in the area.

The network announced on Monday that the episodes will be filmed amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Western Australia.

As an ardent fan, I can’t contain my excitement! Joining forces with Tourism Western Australia, we’re about to witness a unique Home and Away event that will transport our beloved show from the comfort of Summer Bay to the breathtaking vistas of Western Australia. From the cosmopolitan charm of Perth to its rugged coastline, and not forgetting the expansive red outback – this is going to be an unforgettable journey!

Filming will take place in October at several locations across the state.

Producers have kept the plot and actor choices a secret, but they assure us that Western Australia will be the main focus of the production.

I, Lucy Addario, the series producer of Home and Away, am thrilled beyond words to announce that we’re venturing into new territories by filming our series in Western Australia – a first for us!

The breathtaking splendor, varied terrains, and immense expanse of this location provide an ideal setting for unfolding such an expansive narrative.

Collaborating with the Tourism Western Australia group has brought immense pleasure, and we eagerly anticipate the day when people will share our affection for Western Australia.

The special Home and Away event will premiere in 2026 on Seven and 7plus.

Following the disclosure that ‘Home and Away’ is set to part ways with another cherished character, viewers are left pondering if this could mean the end of its run on television screens.

Following the announcement that Juliet Godwin is leaving the popular Australian series, whispers are spreading about another cast member potentially departing as well.

According to reports, Matt Evans, who plays Theo Poulos in the series, is set to leave Summer Bay.

Matt, 28, has been a regular feature on the show for three and a half years.

The possibility that Matt might leave the show raises concerns about the future stability of soap operas, suggesting that Home and Away could be the next television series facing cancellation.

In February, neighbors grabbed attention when they announced their departure from the screen for a second time, this decision coming barely two years following their initial comeback.

In late 2025, the last episode will be broadcast, marking the end for viewers who must bid farewell to Ramsay Street.
