Holstin is an Ambitious-Looking Survival Horror Inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill, Coming to Xbox

The developer Sonka has disclosed that the psychological survival horror game titled Holstin is set to release on consoles and PC. This chilling title will whisk you away into a spooky 90s-era Polish lakeside town, where it’s been invaded by “unsettling terrors”.

In response, you possess a variety of weapons such as pistols, semi-automatic rifles, sniper rifles, Uzis, grenades, flashbangs, and Molotov cocktails, plus a bow and arrow. You can preview the game’s action in the trailer below, which highlights the game’s rundown town setting and distinctive visual style, achieved through Sonka’s innovative 2XD Rendering technology.

As a fan, I’d excitedly share that this gaming experience provides intricate pixel art landscapes with dynamic real-time lighting effects. You can switch up your viewing angles to suit different scenarios – isometric 3D for a bird’s eye view, over-the-shoulder third-person for shooting, first-person for driving, top-down when exploring vast territories, and side-scrolling for navigating the game’s platforming challenges.

Based on the atmospheres of “Resident Evil” and “Silent Hill”, and aiming for a moody, enigmatic vibe similar to “Twin Peaks”, the upcoming game “Holstin” definitely piques curiosity. It’s set to release on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms. A Kickstarter campaign is slated to begin in summer 2025, as developers at Sonka aim to gather funds for finishing the game development and adding additional features.
