Hollywood’s Most Unbelievable Celebrity Lookalikes—Can You Tell Them Apart?

Occasionally, even globally recognized celebrities can find themselves being confused with someone else.

Numerous well-known personalities such as actors, actresses, and musicians often have celebrities who bear a striking resemblance to them, leading to jokes about being twin celebrities due to the frequent occurrence of mistaken identities.

In simpler terms, before their acting careers became well-known, Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard were sometimes mistaken for one another. Similarly, before Katy Perry gained fame, she occasionally pretended to be Zooey Deschanel in order to gain entrance to nightclubs.

At present, Margot Robbie shares a strong likeness with not just one famous counterpart, as actresses like Emma Mackey and Jaime Pressly also display a notable similarity to her. (This version maintains the original’s structure while using simpler language for better readability.)

Initially, Margot and director Greta Gerwig found the idea of having Emma and Margot share the screen in the movie “Barbie” amusing, so they decided to cast Emma for the role.

So which Hollywood stars have their own celebrity doppelganger, and can you tell who is who?

Ever since the British actress debuted on Sex Education, people have constantly drawn comparisons between her and the Australian Academy Award nominee, largely due to their shared facial structure, golden hair, and trendy demeanor.

Although Emma gained prominence portraying the character Maeve with blonde and pink locks, she’s now returned to being a brunette; however, their similarity remains quite noticeable.

After Emma starred in a box office hit as one of the Barbie characters in 2023, she and Margot teamed up together.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, the Oscar-winning actress shared her experience working alongside her lookalike, Emma Mackey, for the first time. According to Margot, they cast Mackey as one of the Barbies in the film due to their shared humor.

Nevertheless, they confessed: “Yet, when fully dolled-up like our Barbie counterparts, we found ourselves remarking, ‘We aren’t actually very alike’.

When our hair colors are different – hers being brown and mine being blond – we don’t resemble each other greatly. Consequently, the humorous reference wasn’t included in the film.

Previously, Emma remarked to Total Film, “It’s quite amusing. I believe Margot possesses the poise and wit to make fun of this aspect, and graciously permit me to appear alongside her in the same movie – what a sweetheart she is.

In reality, it’s just a jest. I say something like, “We bear no resemblance whatsoever.” I find it amusing. After all, it’s Margot Robbie we’re talking about.

Isn’t that surprising? She’s absolutely exceptional, someone I truly admire. I’m okay with people comparing us, but it would be wonderful if we could shift our focus beyond that.

However Emma isn’t Margot’s only doppelganger. 

The I, Tonya actress also sparks an incredible resemblance to My Name Is Earl’s Jaime Pressly. 

As someone who keenly follows them, it’s intriguing how strikingly alike these individuals are, despite a thirteen-year age difference. This resemblance has frequently sparked speculation among fans, leading some to ponder whether they might actually be the same person in disguise.

Eventually, they encountered each other in 2017, leaving both of them stunned just like their fans, who watched them react with surprise and awe.

Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard 

The resemblance between Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard is striking, making it seem as though they could effortlessly portray siblings on screen. It’s not only their shared red hair that contributes to this similarity.

In 2018, when appearing on The Graham Norton Show, Bryce acknowledged that it was complimentary to be compared to the actress from Molly’s Game, stating she found the comparison flattering due to their numerous shared qualities.

In simpler terms, the actress who played the lead role in Jurassic World, aged 44, shared an experience where people often mistook her for Jessica, also 48 years old, even before they both became well-known actors. She admitted that they could easily pass as sisters.

She mentioned: “It’s a great compliment to me! It’s peculiar because it began even before we became well-known.

On different occasions, it appeared as though we might have been mistaken for each other, since I attended NYU and she went to Julliard. These instances often occurred at places like Starbucks and others, leading people to believe we were a single individual.

Even though it’s been a common jest, the Black Mirror actress admitted that her initial encounters with puzzled fans were somewhat disconcerting. However, she acknowledged understanding their confusion, stating, “We could almost pass as sisters.

Back in May 2015, I couldn’t help but jump onto my own Instagram and join the conversation about the striking similarity between me and this A-List actress. Let’s just say, it was a moment of pure laughter when I shared a post clarifying our connection!

After being confused with Bryce Dallas Howard during her publicity trip for Jurassic World, Jessica posted a picture of the two actresses conversing, accompanied by the caption: “Actual event. #BryceDallasHoward appears in #JurassicWorld”.

Frequently, people confuse actress Zooey Deschanel with popular musician Katy Perry. Interestingly, prior to her own rise to stardom, Katy Perry would occasionally impersonate Zooey Deschanel to gain entry into clubs.

Over time, I’ve noticed that Katy and I share a striking similarity when we both sport our dark tresses. Despite the variations in her hair style and color throughout the years, this shared darkness brings us close in appearance.

In the 2020 music video “Not The End of the World” by Katy, they took advantage of their shared resemblance as the actress from New Girl was mistaken for the singer and subsequently abducted by aliens.

As Katy recounted her past: “Approximately 18 years ago when I first arrived in LA, I was essentially unknown. Meanwhile, Zooey was skyrocketing to fame, and it seemed like Zooey Deschanel ruled the world. In that instant, I felt incredibly flattered by resembling you.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley bear a strong resemblance to each other, so much so that Keira was cast as Natalie’s stand-in or lookalike in the Star Wars series.

In Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, it was Natalie who portrayed both Queen Amidala and her handmaiden Sabé. Interestingly, due to their similar costumes, the British actress often left viewers puzzled as to who was who on screen.

In 2014, Keira openly admitted to The Telegraph: “Our mothers got us mixed up on set,” whereas Natalie shared with Vanity Fair that people often still confuse her with Knightley.

 ‘All the time, all the time. Keira Knightley. Very flattering,’ she said.

Taylor Swift and Napoleon Dynamite 

In a playful manner, Elon Musk suggested that Taylor Swift bore a certain likeness to the character Napoleon Dynamite.

Sharing on Twitter a split photo, the similarity between the singer’s facial features and teeth, particularly his smile, was remarkably like the character portrayed by Jon Heder.

Elon questioned if Taylor Swift and Napoleon Dynamite are indeed different people, despite being a fan of Taylor Swift himself.

Stanley Tucci and Mark Strong 

Remove Stanely Tucci’s iconic glasses and the actor is the spitting image of Mark Strong. 

With their bald heads and angular jaws the actors have also been mistaken for one another.  

In 2024, Stanley told Magic Radio: ‘I get complimented on Mark Strong’s performances all the time.’

Amy Adams and Isla Fisher

Besides Bryce and Jessica, there are other well-known redheads often confused with each other – Amy Adams and Isla Fisher share striking similarities.

In 2020, when Isla addressed the Project, she mentioned that the case of mistaken identity had been rare lately because of the lockdown; however, under normal circumstances, it occurs frequently.

She playfully remarked, ‘It’s been a while since I last went out, but I believe I’ve been home, due to the pandemic, for about a year.’

She mentioned that they often find humor in the fact that Amy has blue eyes while hers are brown, and even their husbands have chuckled about it as well.

Even celebrities have confused the two, with Isla admitting Lady Gaga mixed the pair up.  

At the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar party, she shared with Jimmy Kimmel that she was “mingling in a glamorous outfit” at the bar, surrounded by entertainment industry figures. Suddenly, the crowd made way and there stood Lady Gaga.

As she approaches me, she expresses her gratitude, saying, “Thank you. Your portrayal in American Hustle, Amy, was truly remarkable.

Choosing not to rectify her actions, she expressed: ‘I was so deeply in love with her that I opted against revealing the truth. Instead, I graciously acknowledged her and respectfully lowered my head.’

But Gaga wanted to discuss the performance, and Isla knew she was in trouble. 

I glanced behind Lady Gaga and saw Amy Adams entering the gathering, as Isla shared with Kimmel.

‘So I said, ‘There’s Isla Fisher. She’s not even nominated for anything, what’s she doing here?’ 

Meanwhile in Isla even swapped out a picture of her for Amy on her family holiday card. 

She replaced her photo with Amanda’s in the snapshot she took with Sacha Baron Cohen, her then-husband, and their kids.

In a playful twist, I swapped my image with Amy Adams’ in the family photo, making it seem like Sacha and Isla with their kids. We captioned it “Seasons greetings from Sacha and Isla” and no one picked up on the trick. Instead, people complimented the card, unaware that it wasn’t a genuine family shot. I had to clarify, “It’s not me, it’s Amy!

Zoe Saldaña and Thandiwe Newton

Zoe Saldaña has admitted even her own mother mistakes her for British actress Thadiwe Newton.

In 2019, during an interview with The Late Late Show with James Corden, actress Emilia Perez shared that her mother exclaimed: ‘Your program airs on HBO!’

Zoe questioned, “Which one are we talking about?” To which her mother responded, “Westworld.” Zoe then said, “Mom, please remember I’m not Thandie Newton!

2004 marked the start of the misunderstanding, as Zoe’s mom mistakenly believed that Zoe was a part of the movie Crash. Interestingly, during her interview on The Late Late Show, Zoe herself confused Crash with the film Traffic from 2000.

In a humorous manner, Zoe said, “Back then, you thought I was stuck in traffic. But let me clarify, Mom, Thandie Newton is not my mother.

Thadiwe has also revealed that Victoria Beckham was ‘mortified’ after confusing the pair.

In simpler terms, during an interview on Graham Norton’s show, the British actress revealed that while participating in a SoulCycle workout in LA, she was mistaken for the Guardians of the Galaxy actress by someone.

The actress elaborated, “We were having a conversation when she commented on how wonderful it was that I was there while I was pregnant. I responded by sharing that I had given birth a few months back.

As our conversation continued, it became apparent that she believed me to be someone else. So, with a hint of excitement, I asked, “Could it possibly be that you mistake me for Zoe Saldana?” To my surprise, Victoria turned bright red and seemed deeply embarrassed!

‘It was actually okay as Zoe is a rare beauty, but really? up close? Come on! And, I am British!’ 

Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood 

Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood quickly gained widespread recognition because they played Harry Potter and Frodo Baggins, respectively.

The duo, both having dark tresses and vivid blue orbs for eyes, share a comparable stature; Daniel measures 5 feet 4 inches, while Elijah is slightly taller at 5 feet 5 inches.

On The Drew Barrymore Show, Daniel shared some instances where the event occurred.

On occasion, he admitted being misunderstood by his co-actor, saying, “This has happened a few times. After all, nobody wants to spoil someone else’s day.

He said it first happened at an event in Japan and the fan didn’t speak English. 

He remembered: I found myself on a crimson carpet in Japan, where a man was attempting to give me a picture of Elijah Wood. Remarkably, this individual was Japanese and didn’t speak English, and unfortunately, I don’t speak Japanese either.

‘I think I signed Elijah Wood, or I maybe wrote, ‘I’m not Elijah Wood — I’m Daniel Radcliffe.’

At another time, someone mistakenly thought he was the actor from “The Lord of the Rings” films and called out from their car, “Hey, Frodo! I adore the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series!

At that very instant, you might feel something like, “He must be in for a fantastic day if he believes he encountered Frodo, so I thought, ‘Cheers mate! Enjoy yourself!’
