Hollywood star Ione Skye reveals sweet way husband Ben Lee supported her memoir journey

Actress Ione Skye shares a touching tale about the encouraging role her spouse, musician Ben Lee from Australia, played during the writing of her latest memoir.

On a recent episode of The Project, the 54-year-old celebrity (originally from England) shared with the hosts about the tremendous support she received from her Australian spouse, aged 46, throughout her writing journey.

Skye explained, “He’s both my lover and confidant, offering therapy-like advice too. Since we share many friends, he was well-informed about most things.

In the process of authoring the book, I needed some time to work through the sorrow of losing my first husband as a friend. Luckily, Ben was incredibly understanding during this period.

In penning her recently published autobiography titled “Say Everything,” Skye expressed gratitude for being married to such an exceptional man, referencing Adam Horovitz, a member of the Beastie Boys.

She expressed that Ben admires a strong-willed woman. He takes pride in her life and is filled with joy as he witnesses her growth. In an amazing way, he seems to be incredibly supportive of her.

In her own words, she expressed her heartfelt gratitude for having established a bond with Ben, whom she wedded in 2008 at the age of 38, marking the conclusion of her first marriage.

Following the end of my first marital journey, I discovered that my aunt embarked on a profound romance at the age of 65. A flicker of hope ignited within me, contemplating if I might experience a similar fate. However, I was fortunate enough to meet Ben before then, consider it good fortune on my part.

In the year 2008, during the winter month of December, the pair got married according to traditional Hindu rituals in India. This ceremony took place nine years following Skye’s divorce from Horovitz which occurred in 1999.

They have one child together, daughter Goldie Priya Lee, 15.

Ben dated American actress Claire Danes, 46, between 1999 and 2003.

In 2022, they talked about their relaxed marriage and rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle to Stellar Magazine.

Skye said with both of them being creative souls, they love to entertain and have people over.

In my perspective, it seems as though they say that you wed one of your kin. My mom was known for her lively spirit, but not in the hard-rocking sense, as she clarified to the media outlet.

She remained trustworthy, yet her passion lay within community involvement and hosting gatherings. She often organized a convivial poker night and enjoyed the company of others while cooking.

On Fridays, we often enjoy reminiscing about our 20s by having get-togethers, recapturing that lively spirit from back then. Although we are no longer in our twenties, we still appreciate that energetic atmosphere.

In another part of the conversation, Ben talked about the classic 1989 movie “Say Anything,” which became his wife’s poster girl for many admirers during the 1990s.

He mentioned that he doesn’t hold a sense of longing for the past, but instead values it similarly to how others might. His focus is primarily on the present and future.

Occasionally, Ione shares a photo from the film “Say Anything” – it’s not that she’s compelled to do so out of necessity, but rather, it brings joy to others.

In simpler terms, the movie “Say Anything” is a romantic drama where John Cusack’s character, Lloyd Dobler, uses a portable radio (boombox) to express his feelings for Diane Court, played by Skye. This iconic scene has left a lasting impact on popular culture.
