Twin Peaks director David Lynch has died at age 78.

On Thursday, it was shared on social media that the filmmaker who has been nominated for four Oscars revealed some sad news about his family.

Known for his groundbreaking work on television shows and the movie “Blue Velvet,” David Lynch has recently been struggling with poor health and is confined at home due to emphysema.

As an ardent admirer, I sadly share this news: With profound sorrow, his cherished kin, speaking for me too as part of his extended family, convey the heart-wrenching news that the incredible artist and man we all adore, David Lynch, has left us.

Let’s ask for a moment of solitude as we grapple with the immense void left by his absence.

In my perspective as a lifestyle enthusiast, I often find myself echoing this sentiment: “Focus on the positive, like the sweetness of the donut instead of dwelling on what’s missing, such as the hole.” Today, we’re graced with a stunning panorama of sun-kissed golden hues and endless blue skies overhead – a truly breathtaking sight!

Lynch leaves behind his spouse Emily Stofle, along with his daughters Jennifer Lynch, Austin Jack Lynch, and Riley Lynch.

During an interview with Sight & Sound in August, Lynch stated that his health issue was a result of prolonged smoking habits.

Lynch mentioned that he’s essentially confined at home, regardless of his preference. He can’t venture outside and can only stroll a limited distance before running out of breath.

In a candid statement, the director behind Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks admitted that his affection for smoking led him to this circumstance.

Lynch said: ‘Smoking was something that I absolutely loved, but in the end, it bit me.

Engaging in the lifestyle of an artist was a fundamental aspect for me: the scent and feel of cigarettes, igniting objects and puffing on them, then returning, relaxing, and enjoying a cigarette while contemplating my work or pondering ideas.

‘Nothing like it in this world is so beautiful. Meanwhile, it’s killing me. So I had to quit.’

Despite the fact that his illness currently keeps him away from personally working on projects, he hasn’t given up hope of directing in the future.

He prefers being surrounded by things for inspiration, but if necessary, he can work remotely instead.

Lynch was talking about his animated venture, titled Snootworld, that he proposed to Netflix but they declined it in the end.

Prior to his health concerns, his last significant endeavor was breathing new life into the Twin Peaks series for Showtime in the year 2017.

In the early ’90s, I was captivated by a television show that unfolded over two seasons, delving into the murder mystery of the beloved homecoming queen Laura Palmer, portrayed by Sheryl Lee, in the fictitious town of Twin Peaks, Washington.

In the early 1990s, when this show initially aired on ABC, it gradually built up a devoted fanbase. This popularity led to the creation of a 1992 prequel movie titled “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk.

Over two decades Lynch’s signature franchise made a comeback with Twin Peaks: The Return.

Originally-cast actors such as Kyle MacLachlan, Sherilyn Fenn, Mädchen Amick, Lee, and David Duchovny reappeared during the show’s comeback.

As an over-the-moon fan, I can’t contain my excitement as they brought in a stellar cast! Among them were the legendary Laura Dern, the captivating Amanda Seyfried, the radiant Jessica Szohr, the charming Michael Cera, the timeless Richard Chamberlain, and the enigmatic Trent Reznor. This ensemble is truly a dream come true for me!

David Lynch also left his mark with notable films such as Eraserhead (released in 1977), The Elephant Man (1980), Blue Velvet (debuted in 1986), Mulholland Drive (premiered in 2001), and Inland Empire (released in 2006).
