A remake of the classic 1960 film, The Magnificent Seven, is coming to the streaming service MGM+. This new version will be an eight-episode series.
Matt Dillon, known for his roles in films like There’s Something About Mary and Asteroid City, will star as Chris Adams in a new Western. Adams leads a group of seven skilled gunfighters hired to defend a peaceful Quaker village from a greedy landowner trying to take their land.
I’m really excited for this series because it’s going to show us how each character became who they are. But it’s also tackling a really tough question: what happens when you believe in peace, but feel like violence is the only way to protect the people you care about? It’s going to be interesting to see how they grapple with that.

The original movie, which was based on Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, has been remade several times. This includes a 1998 TV show starring Ron Perlman and a 2016 film featuring Chris Pratt.
The series is created and executive produced by Tim Kring, who also created the popular show Heroes from the late 2000s. Filming will begin in Calgary in June, but a release date hasn’t been announced yet.

Honestly, Matt Dillon is amazing in this. Michael Wright, who’s in charge over at MGM+, said it best – he really brings a lot of weight and seriousness to the character. It’s a classic role, and Dillon just nails it.
He’s ideally suited to star in our new version of The Magnificent Seven because he excels at playing characters who are complicated and face difficult moral choices.
This show pays tribute to the first movie, delving into universal ideas of bravery, making amends, and fighting injustice—with Matt’s acting as a central part of the narrative.

MGM+ has ordered a second season of its Robin Hood series, featuring Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Future episodes will expand the story from Sherwood Forest and Nottingham to the royal courts of England, France, and Rome. The show will also be introducing new actors, with details coming soon.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
