Hollyoaks Star’s Shock Hospital Dash: ‘Woke Up in Agony’
David Ames, a well-known actor from the show Hollyoaks, shared that he had to be quickly taken to the hospital due to intense pain he woke up with.
In the year 2023 through 2024, I stepped into the role of interim headteacher Carter Shepherd on a popular soap opera. Recently, I felt compelled to share my personal health challenge with my supporters on Instagram, which I did on a Tuesday.
David shared a picture of himself hooked up to hospital equipment, expressing that he never expected to wake up in intense pain, possibly due to kidney stones, instead of having a regular day. However, life doesn’t always go as planned, and this is his current situation.
He then went onto share a playful post poking fun at the hospital jelly he’d been given by doctors.
David has acted as Dominic Copeland in the medical drama Holby City before, demonstrating that he’s quite familiar with hospital environments.
In the soap opera Hollyoaks, David portrayed the antagonist Carter who became the focal point of a compelling narrative about controversial conversion therapy.

Under a friendly exterior, Carter assumed the role of a compassionate headmaster. However, beneath this facade lurked self-loathing due to his attraction towards men, which led him to torment Lucas Hay in an attempt to suppress his own and Lucas’s sexuality.
Carter abducted John Paul McQueen, came close to drowning him, and eventually got apprehended by the police.
David shared with The Radio Times that the storyline was intense, involving instances where he had to be harsh towards characters, even saying hurtful and mean words – some of which he himself has experienced before.
‘So, to be able to get into that mindset, actually, was quite difficult at times, and was heavy.
There were many complexities I had to untangle regarding his disapproval towards the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the fact that his views didn’t match up with their values.
After it became known that a well-known Hollyoaks actor unexpectedly reappeared on the show following his dramatic departure.
Jamie Lomas, aged 49, who is famously recognized as the villainous character Warren Fox, has already completed shooting his return episodes for the daytime drama series on Channel 4.
From 2006 to 2011, the actor initially made his presence known in the village. After a gap of five years, he re-joined the cast and stayed with them until his departure in 2024.

Viewers familiar with the series may recall the moment when the gangster evaded his obligations, yet it’s now expected that he’ll make an appearance during a flashback sequence.
Regarding his comeback, Jamie expressed: “I’ve got a lot to share about the past year that the fans are unaware of, and I’m thrilled to be involved in this unique episode.
‘I always love coming back home to Hollyoaks.’
According to a source, the producers of Hollyoaks plan to re-explore the missing year and one potential approach they’ve discussed is by bringing back the character Warren for that narrative arc.
‘It was too good an opportunity to miss and Jamie jumped at the chance.
‘He loved his time on the show and he was more than happy to return for an appearance.’
This Spring, he’ll make an appearance on our screens, playing a role in Mercedes’ experience with bowel cancer diagnosis and Joel’s recurrence of the condition.
