Nikki Sanderson suffered severe injuries in a treadmill accident, losing several layers of skin and sustaining a chin injury that effectively fused her chin to something else.
Hollyoaks actress, 41, posted a funny video on Instagram on Thursday showing her falling off a treadmill. She advised her followers not to attempt the same stunt themselves.
Oh dear, I just saw a clip of someone trying a new treadmill workout and it didn’t go as planned! She attempted to do a sideways movement, lost her balance, and unfortunately fell forward, hitting her chin on the belt. It looked quite painful – poor thing had a sore and bleeding chin after that! It’s a good reminder that even for the fittest among us, trying something new requires caution and maybe starting a little slower.
She captioned the post: ‘TW: Epic treadmill fail… this one hurt (crying emoji) wait for it…
I needed a hospital visit after a painful incident involving a glued chin and significant skin abrasions on my arms and knees.
Please don’t attempt this yourself! Just to be clear, this whole thing was my mistake – the treadmill wasn’t to blame. (I’m laughing about it now, though!)

Nikki recently shared stunning bikini photos from her vacation in Majorca, and shortly after, she had an accident on a treadmill.
The actress, who departed from the Channel 4 soap opera earlier in the year, looked stunning in a pink striped outfit while relaxing by the pool.
Nikki put on a bright orange and white checkered bikini, continuing to soak up the sun and work on her tan.
The actress showed off her flat stomach while lounging in the sun, sporting a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses.
The actress smiled brightly for photos during her trip, with her damp, dark hair styled away from her face.
She wrote: ‘Same spot, different bikini’.
Nikki revealed in March that she had quit Hollyoaks after starring as Maxine Minniver for 13 years.
The actress described leaving the show as a very hard decision, sharing this with The Mirror before she finished filming her last scenes in April.

She explained that leaving was a really tough choice, as Maxine means a great deal to her and she cherishes their relationship.
Deciding to do this wasn’t easy. It took a lot of thought and internal debate, and wasn’t a quick decision. I really wrestled with it for a while, but I was fortunate to have supportive people around me whose opinions I could get.
You know, I’ve always valued having a solid foundation in my life, and I’m so thankful for that period of calm. But lately, I’ve realized it’s time to get comfortable with the unknown. It’s a little scary, sure, but I’m choosing to really lean into this new chapter where things aren’t so predictable. It’s about embracing the adventure of ‘what’s next’ instead of needing to have all the answers right now.
She said she’d be happy to return to television soap operas, and would definitely consider rejoining Coronation Street, where she once starred as Candice Stowe, if offered the opportunity.
Nikki joined the cast of Hollyoaks in 2012 and has become a huge fan favourite over the years.
Throughout her time on the show, she’s been involved in several intense and emotional storylines, including experiences with domestic abuse involving her partner Patrick Blake, a sexual assault, and a diagnosis of Munchausen’s syndrome for her character.
She’s leaving her role as Maxine to pursue new projects, and her last episodes will air soon.
According to a source, she informed her managers of her decision to leave, feeling it was the right time for a change after recently turning 40 and wanting to move on from her role as Maxine.

‘She’s keen to explore other opportunities and is excited to get back out there.
For months, the show’s writers have been planning how Maxine will leave, and they’ve assured fans it will be a respectful and memorable send-off. Expect plenty of exciting events leading up to her departure.
Hollyoaks isn’t the only TV show that Nikki has appeared on.
Between 1999 and 2005, the star took on the role of Candice Stowe in ITV’s Coronation Street.
In 2006, she appeared in Holby City as Monica Southworth.
Nikki appeared as Dawn Bellamy on Heartbeat from 2008 to 2009, and later played Amy Harris in Casualty in 2012.
She has also received multiple nominations for television awards throughout her career. In 2014, she won the Best Actress award at the Inside Soap Awards.
The actress has received nominations for Best Actress at the British Soap Awards, TV Choice Awards, and the National Television Awards, recognizing her performance in a serial drama.
