Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards sparks concern with video as he asks ‘what is the f***ing point?’ – before being comforted by his fans

Jeremy Edwards, known for his role on Hollyoaks, worried his followers when he shared a TikTok video this week questioning the meaning of life. Fans quickly responded with supportive messages.

The 54-year-old actor, who shared that his father died in July, is known for playing Kurt Benson in the Channel 4 soap opera.

In a video shared on Thursday, Jeremy expressed concern, saying he wasn’t doing well and didn’t have any positive news to share.

‘Such is life, Christmas is looming, and yeah I just feel s**t.’

‘Oh my gosh. Some days, you just can’t see what the point is.

‘Do you know what I’m saying? F***ing hell anyway, have a good one.’

The actor also captioned the video: ‘What is the f***ing point?’

In the clip he has his hood up and was taking a wall outside in the fresh air.

Concerned fans showed their support for him in the comments as they shared kind messages.

He shared another video to thank his fans for the overwhelming support he received, mentioning around 500 positive messages.

He wrote in the video’s caption: ‘You’re not alone. Lots of people are struggling, so please remember that everyone faces challenges.’

A representative for Jeremy has been contacted by The Daily Mail for comment.

Jeremy rejoined the soap opera in 2020, even though his character had previously died in a jet-ski accident way back in 1999.

In 2021 he then branded his Hollyoaks return ‘a s**t show’.

Jeremy, facing criticism for a plotline that brought his character back to life, suggested the negative reaction to Kurt’s storyline stemmed from the writers not having a clear plan for the show’s direction.

The actor revealed in January 2021 that he was leaving the soap opera, and also mentioned that the producers hoped he would return someday. However, he turned down the possibility, saying he wasn’t interested.

Jeremy shared on the Soap From The Box podcast that he had planned to stay much longer, but his return was cut short when he contracted Covid.

It probably would have been best to just not get involved, as the situation was unclear and didn’t really fit into any category. I was willing to commit for six months to a year, but only doing three months and then being left uncertain about what comes next isn’t ideal.

Basically, Kurt is still alive and could return, and they’ve expressed interest in having me involved again later on. But I’ve turned them down.

I was really shocked when Jeremy announced he was leaving the show back in January 2021. He explained that the constant criticism he was getting online definitely contributed to his decision, and honestly, it’s a shame to see someone leave because of that.

The television personality voiced his frustration at being singled out, tweeting: ‘Can you believe someone would actually think, “Let’s see, what should I bother with today?”‘

I’m going to intentionally hurt someone online, a complete stranger, by bringing up a sensitive topic, even if it’s not true, just to upset them.

‘Maybe I’ll ruin their day? Excellent idea!’ How terribly sad.’

Jeremy posted screenshots of the abusive messages he received, which included a hateful comment calling him offensive names and telling him to lose weight and change his lifestyle.

The reality TV contestant, who previously appeared on X Factor: Celebrity, also wondered how people who harass others online could be made to take responsibility. He asked his fans, ‘How do I deal with anonymous online abuse?’

Jeremy’s first tweet received a lot of positive feedback from his fans and friends in the entertainment industry, including Susie Amy and other stars from Hollyoaks like Tamara Wall and Gemma Atkinson.

The actor first played Kurt Benson on the Channel 4 soap opera from 1995 to 1999. His character appeared to die, but surprisingly returned in 2020.

Jeremy explained that he was leaving the show because some fans struggled with the storyline of Kurt returning from the dead, and because of Kurt’s actions as a conman.

He announced on Twitter that he’s leaving #Hollyoaks, saying he’s sad to be going.

‘Many reasons but I’d be lying if I said being judged on here hasn’t influenced my decision.

‘Never say never but for now I’m done. Thank you to those who have supported me for me.’

As a long-time follower of Hollyoaks, I remember when Kurt Benson unexpectedly returned to the show! It was a huge surprise for fans – and especially for his best friend, Tony. After Kurt’s character was killed off back in 1999, everyone thought that was the end. But for the show’s 25th anniversary, he reappeared, leaving Tony absolutely convinced he was seeing a ghost! It was a really dramatic moment and a clever way to celebrate the show’s history.

Jeremy, once engaged to Rachel Stevens, appeared in the very first episode of Hollyoaks. He later made a brief return in 2013 as a hallucination, appearing to protect Tony’s son.

Besides his role on Hollyoaks, Jeremy competed on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019 with professional dancer Brendan Cole.
