Holly Willoughby is RETURNING to ITV for revival of iconic 90s game show with old sidekick Stephen Mulhern – 10 months after quitting This Morning
Oh, my dear fellow fans and followers of all things fabulous and British television-related, let me tell you, we are in for a treat this autumn! The return of You Bet!, that iconic game show from our childhoods, is like a warm, comforting hug straight from the heart of ITV. And who better to lead us through this nostalgia trip than the ever-delightful, Holly Willoughby?
Holly Willoughby will be back on ITV, hosting a fresh program together with her Dancing on Ice partner, Stephen Mulhern.
The pair is set to revive the classic ’90s game show, “You Bet!”, originally hosted by both Darren Day and the late legends Bruce Forsyth and Matthew Kelly. In simpler terms, they’re bringing back an old favorite from the ’90s, a show called “You Bet!”, which Darren Day, Bruce Forsyth, and Matthew Kelly used to host.
As a long-time fan of adventure shows, I am beyond excited to see the return of my favorite programme to ITV1 and ITVX this Autumn. Having grown up watching such programs, they have always been a source of inspiration for me, pushing me to take on my own epic challenges and strive for mind-blowing feats. The addition of big name celebrities and nail-biting suspense only adds to the allure of these action-packed primetime event specials. I can’t wait to see what incredible moments await this season!
In the comeback of an iconic series, individuals with special talents take on extraordinary feats that defy imagination, all in hopes of pocketing a substantial monetary reward.
For your information, “You Bet!” has been greenlit for two 75-minute-long episodes and is being developed by Rollercoaster Television, a subsidiary of ITV Studios.
In this setting, a group of well-known personalities and the live audience will try to guess whether each competitor can successfully accomplish the unusual task presented to them.
If you give the correct answer, points are added to the celebrities’ total, according to the proportion of the audience who voted similarly.
Towards the conclusion of the program, the studio audience chooses their preferred competitor, who walks away with an impressive £10,000 prize.
In this scenario, the celebrity who earns the highest score pockets a generous donation of £10,000 for their preferred charity, whereas the celebrity scoring the least gets to participate in an entertaining finale as part of a fun challenge.
Regarding her comeback to the channel, she expressed her thrill, saying, “I can hardly wait to join forces again with the legendary Stephen Mulhern on that beloved game show.”
I’m excited to witness the incredible abilities that the contenders will display, and find out who among our celebrity judges will emerge victorious.
As a devoted fan who cherished “You Bet!” as a child, I am thrilled beyond words to be collaborating alongside the delightful Holly Willoughby in this shared hosting role.
Anticipating the awe-inspiring and the unforeseen, I am eager to discover the remarkable talents these competitors are hiding.
In 1997, the final episode of You Bet! was broadcast, and a source informed The Sun that Holly is considered an ideal candidate to host the show’s comeback.
According to the source, their on-ice collaboration during Dancing On Ice this year demonstrated an outstanding chemistry, leading producers to consider bringing them back to our screens.
Engaging family entertainment is on the horizon, as Holly takes charge alongside Stephen. ITV believes this could be a hit in terms of viewership.
Earlier this year, Holly returned to ITV following a hiatus from Dancing On Ice, having stepped down from This Morning in October 2023.
Fans were delighted to see her back on screen, and the show ran weekly until March.
However, when that phase concluded, Holly shared that she was planning to venture beyond her familiar territory in terrestrial TV, where she has earned admiration and affection.
She will soon be hosting a Netflix series titled “Bear Hunt.” In this program, famous personalities from Britain will face challenges set by survivalist and explorer Bear Grylls in the dense forests of Central America.
It is a change of direction for both Holly and for Netflix.
As your trusted lifestyle guide, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! Although I don’t have the specific date just yet, it appears that our highly-anticipated programme is slated to debut next year. Get ready for a star-studded lineup featuring global sensations like Mel B from the Spice Girls, Una Healy of The Saturdays, and tennis legend Boris Becker! Stay tuned for more updates on this must-watch event.
It’s rumored that the decision-makers at the renowned streaming platform think that Holly’s endearing charm could attract a broader British audience, particularly those who have been loyal viewers of her on This Morning for quite some time.
As per reports, Netflix’s head of content in the UK, Anne Mensah, mentioned their aim is to cater to everyone, ranging from one’s mother to one’s neighbor. Given her charm and appeal, it seems that Holly would be an ideal choice to represent this diverse audience.
Over the past few months, I’ve been subtly indicating that I might be shifting my focus away from television and into other realms, particularly my personal lifestyle brand, Wylde Moon.
