Holly Willoughby Admits She’s ‘Scared’ and ‘Totally Out of Her Comfort Zone’ on Celebrity Bear Hunt

Holly Willoughby openly confessed that she feels completely outside her usual range and quite fearful during the debut of Celebrity Bear Hunt.

Last Friday on the Graham Norton show, the host, aged 43, discussed her demanding role as a TV presenter in a Costa Rican jungle, premiering recently, over a year since she publicly announced her exit from her long-standing position at This Morning.

Holly, who stood out in a chic all-black attire, had an interesting conversation with explorer Bear Grylls (age 50), as he incorporated her into various trials during the filming of the show where he pursues twelve famous personalities through rugged landscapes.

In conversation about her experience on the fresh program, the previous This Morning anchor expressed, “It’s simply delightful to engage in something novel and thrilling, and it feels like I’m truly embarking on an authentic journey.

‘Working with Bear Grylls has taken me totally out of my comfort zone.

In awe, I can’t help but exclaim that the enchantment of Bear lies in his extraordinary ability to be genuinely persuasive and inspiring. He has this knack for pushing me, the most timid soul, out of my comfort zone. Truly remarkable!

Back in January, we unveiled an impressive roster for the series, featuring notable personalities such as Mel B from the Spice Girls (age 49), Shirley Ballas from Strictly Come Dancing (age 64), and Una Healy, singer of The Saturdays (age 43). These celebrities are part of our talented cast.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I was thrilled to have the company of Joe Thomas from The Inbetweeners, the charismatic Steph McGovern, and tennis legend Boris Becker during our latest gathering. Each one brought their unique energy and charm to the mix!

In this scenario, any contestants who don’t measure up will encounter the harsh reality known as the “Bear Hunt.” This is a grueling contest of wits and speed, pitting them against Bear himself. If they are caught, their journey on the show comes to an end.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share the nail-biting incident that occurred during the filming of our beloved show. It seemed like fate took a turn for the worse when Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen, at 59 years young, found himself in a harrowing ordeal. A freak raft accident ensued, with him being dragged underwater for what felt like an eternity after getting tangled in a bungee rope. The suspense was unbearable as he was pulled to safety, leaving us all on the edge of our seats. Truly, his passion and dedication know no bounds!

The drama persisted as Lottie Moss, aged 27, choked back tears as she shared details about her unsuccessful rehabilitation program for substance abuse and depression, which she described as being ineffective.

During intense emotional moments on set, a previous OnlyFans model found herself struggling to maintain composure as she openly shared with her fellow actors that her 2022 experience had been unsuccessful, and she planned to enter rehab once more prior to beginning the production.

On Tuesday, Holly gracefully stepped onto the red carpet at the Odeon West End in central London, turning heads in a stunning, plunge-neck black gown, looking as fashionable and elegant as always.

After a hiatus from television, following her exit from the ITV daytime show, she reappeared on screens for the latest series of the show.

She flaunted her sophisticated fashion in a stylish £1,800 dress designed by David Koma from London, adorned with velvet accents. She paired it with coordinating minimalist heels to add some extra height.

Holly wore her blonde tresses in a sleek cropped do and opted for a glowing, natural makeup look.

She was accompanied by the lead actor and survival specialist, Bear, who appeared fully prepared for action in his equipment. Later on, he executed a rappelling feat.

Following Bear’s confession that Holly was extremely anxious prior to filming the new television series, which marked her return to TV.

After a disturbing kidnap and murder plot aimed at her became public knowledge in 2023, she decided to step back from screens and the glamour of the red carpet, except for her role on Dancing On Ice, to take some time off.

Yet, despite having stepped away from the limelight, the star is making a bold return by presenting her most daring production ever.

As a die-hard fan, let me tell you, I was right there with Holly, feeling every ounce of her apprehension. My co-star, Bear, revealed that I had plunged headfirst into uncharted waters, as he put it: ‘I could see she was swimming in the deep end.’

During an appearance on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio UK’s National Lottery segment on Tuesday, Bear expressed his thoughts about collaborating with Holly, stating that she was simply amazing and a pleasure to work with.

I haven’t collaborated with someone quite like her before. She’s remarkably tender-hearted and compassionate. She seemed apprehensive. She found herself in over her head, so to speak.

She significantly enhanced the atmosphere with her compassionate and loving demeanor, providing a comforting warmth that eased the celebrities’ apprehension upon returning to the camp, where energy levels tend to run high.

‘And she was great. She was great.’

Lately, Holly has shared insights about the difficulties she’s encountered since returning home following her sabbatical from work last year.

The presenter mentioned that adjusting to the role of a stay-at-home mom was tough for her, as she often found herself alone at home without any conversation throughout the day. She expressed her desire to interact with her children – Harry, 15, Chester, 10, and Belle, 13 – upon their return from school, but lamented that they would usually be too ‘tired’.

She informed The Sunday Times: “Things have been tough for everyone, as we’ve had to adapt to one another’s working styles once more, if you catch my drift?

Without misunderstanding, initially when I stayed home more, as soon as the children came in, I would often ask them, “What’s up?”, because I hadn’t interacted with anyone all day.

Typically, my day finds me at work, exhausted, so when I greet them with a casual “Hey kids?”, they respond with “Hey Mom,” and we move on. But then, out of the blue, I’d ask, “And what transpired at school today?

I find myself expressing, ‘Mom, despite spending the entire day indoors, remember, I’ve been at school, and I’m drained.’

Holly expressed joy about resuming the school commute, a task she believes many parents might envy, as they typically handle it while she is busy with early-morning TV shows.

Apart from this, she mentioned that she’d attended a lot more activities involving her children, whom she co-parents with her husband Dan Baldwin, the television producer.

On this coming Friday, the 31st of January, you can catch “The Graham Norton Show” on BBC One at 10:40 PM. You can also find it on BBC iPlayer for later viewing.
