People were really looking forward to the new season of All Creatures Great and Small, and it seems the period drama didn’t disappoint! The first episode of season 6 has quickly become a hit, reaching the number one spot on a streaming chart.
Nearly a week after the latest episode was released, the show remains the most popular title on 5’s streaming platform, holding the top spot on the ‘Top 10 Today’ list.
It wasn’t surprising when season 6 filming was announced, as viewers had already called the show the “best thing on TV” and their “absolute favourite programme“.

The show has been well-received by critics, with seasons 2, 3, and 4 each earning a perfect 100% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on critic reviews.
As of today, only one publication has published a review of season 6 – The Times – and thankfully, it was a good one.
Let’s read what that review has said:
With the highly anticipated premieres of series like Slow Horses and House of Guinness signaling a shift in television trends, it’s heartening to find that some parts of TV remain humble, traditional, and possess something many large-scale shows lack: genuine charm.
It really speaks volumes about the actors that they manage to deliver such strong performances in a show that often risks feeling overly formulaic and emotionally manipulative. They elevate the material, even when it threatens to offer only predictable feelings.
So, after the first episode dropped, I saw this video on the show’s Instagram page, and Anna Madeley, who plays Mrs. Hall, gave us a little hint about what’s coming up with her and Mr. Farnon. Basically, she teased what we can expect from their relationship going forward. I’m really excited to see how that unfolds! It sounds like there’s definitely something brewing between them.
She described the connection between the two characters as genuinely enjoyable, explaining, “there are many layers to that relationship.” She added that, for Mrs. Hall, the primary difficulty in Season 6 will be dealing with Mr. Farnon.
Her main task as she begins is essentially getting things organized again and helping everyone collaborate effectively as they rejoin the group, that’s what she’s focused on.
I believe she’s just looking to have a good time and experience some excitement. So, it’s possible you’ll spot her driving quickly through the ‘Dales’ at some point-we’ll have to wait and see. It’s likely she’s seeking adventure, and who knows where that might lead?
