Mark Gatiss, known for his roles in Doctor Who and Sherlock, is receiving praise for his new drama, Bookish. The show centers on a quirky bookstore owner who assists the police with investigations, all while facing potential criminalization himself due to his sexuality.
The show’s creator hinted in a recent interview with Radio Times that this storyline will be a major focus in the second season of the historical detective drama.
I’m really pleased with how people have reacted to the lavender marriage and the show overall,” he said. “Their arrangement works for both of them, but it’s not without its risks. We’ll explore those dangers, and see how things start to unravel a bit.
He hinted that the next set of episodes will expand the scope of the story, taking the action to Germany in episodes five and six.
Gatiss hinted that the show will be more emotionally engaging, revealing that while some mysteries will be solved, others will remain unanswered.
