Hiroki Muraoka’s First Solo Exhibition Focuses on ‘Bright Moments’
Summary
- Hiroki Muraoka is a professional skateboarder who launched his first solo exhibition at Taipei’s Little Hut
- The show will go on view from May 17 through June 1
- Bright Moments focuses on the happiness found in everyday life
As a skate-loving artist hailing from the bustling streets of Tokyo, Japan, I am Hiroki Muraoka – an up-and-coming contemporary painter. My artwork is vibrant and features intricate, flattened figurative scenes that encapsulate my life as a professional skateboarder. With brands like adidas and Traffic backing me for my exceptional skateboarding skills, I’ve spent most of my days cruising around on four tiny polyurethane wheels. However, when I get some free time, you can find me sketching, drawing, or painting – it’s the perfect way to unwind after a day on the board!
The Little Hut in Taiwan acknowledges Muraoka’s exceptional creative abilities outside of action sports and is preparing to debut a solo exhibition titled “Bright Moments” showcasing pieces inspired by “the warmth and radiance that envelop us, when we take a moment to observe.” This is the gallery’s description.
In this collection, Hiroki skillfully blends his love for art and skateboarding subculture. The artwork showcases diverse characters and amusing vignettes, including a skater leaping from a school bus and a tranquil bathhouse setting. As he explained in a press release, “I aimed to depict moments of joy that I’ve witnessed or fantasized about. I hope the viewers of this exhibition will experience a touch of that happiness too.
Bright Moments will go on view at The Little Hut starting May 17 through June 1.
