Hilary Duff’s husband Matthew Koma ROASTS ‘self obsessed’ Ashley Tisdale over ‘toxic mom group’ drama

Hilary Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, jokingly commented on the recent controversy surrounding the ‘Toxic Mom Group’.

Koma addressed rumors on Instagram Tuesday that his wife, Hilary Duff, had a disagreement with Ashley Tisdale, reportedly due to drama within their moms’ group.

He jokingly criticized Ashley Tisdale’s recent essay in The Cut, creating a satirical headline that said, ‘When someone is incredibly self-absorbed and out of touch, other mothers usually focus on their own children.’

This follows Ashley Tisdale’s recent essay where she described feeling isolated by her mom friends after having a baby. In the essay, titled ‘Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,’ she explained how she felt left out during the postpartum period.

After having her daughter Jupiter in 2021, the actress, known from High School Musical, publicly praised the support she received from a group of fellow mothers, including Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor, calling them her ‘village.’

After Ashley Tisdale stopped following Duff and Moore on Instagram, many fans immediately guessed that the two actresses were part of a certain group being discussed.

Ashley Tisdale, who shares a 16-month-old son named Emerson with her husband, Christopher French, joined a mothers’ group started by her friend Hilary Duff. Over the last four years, the women have enjoyed vacations, baby classes, and playdates together.

Recently, actress Jennifer Tisdale wrote about ending her relationship with her mothers’ group, sharing that she felt left out during the sensitive time after having a baby.

She initially shared thoughts on her blog, ByAshleyFrench, in November 2025, and later wrote a piece for The Cut, but chose not to identify the women she discussed.

She noticed she was left out of some events, and then saw pictures of them on Instagram, realizing she hadn’t been invited.

She wrote that it reminded her of a bad feeling she believed she’d overcome long ago.

I was having one of those nights – sitting quietly after my daughter was asleep, and this thought just hit me: am I not cool enough? It instantly transported me back to high school, and I was right back in that awful feeling of being lost and wondering what I was doing to be excluded. It was like reliving those old insecurities all over again.

Okay, so after Ashley spoke out, someone from her old mom group actually responded publicly! I’ve been following everything so closely, and it’s just…wow. It’s like all this drama is unfolding right before my eyes, and now even people from her past are getting involved. I need to know everything!

After being left out again, she finally sent a text to the group saying she didn’t want to be involved anymore because it felt too immature.

Just to clarify, I don’t think any of the moms are bad people—maybe one of them—but I do believe the way our group interacted became unhealthy and negative, at least for me.

Although the actress hasn’t said who she was talking about, people noticed the article came out soon after she stopped following Moore and Duff on Instagram.

Tisdale had once been a core member of the A-list circle.

She shared a post from a 2022 girls’ weekend with Duff and Trainor, expressing how much she enjoyed spending time with them. The post has since been deleted.

She excitedly shared at the time how wonderful it was to go through motherhood with such a great group of women.

Just in January 2025, she expressed her gratitude to her mom group for their support during the Los Angeles wildfires, saying, ‘It’s amazing to feel connected to others, and I’m so thankful for this mom group who are there for me through everything.’

Meanwhile, Moore and Duff appear to remain close.

These close friends have always been honest about how much they rely on each other, and they even shared a home last year when Moore lost everything in the wildfires.

The family was recently spotted enjoying a Christmas lights display with their kids, and they shared photos from the cheerful outing.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Tisdale, Ryan, Duff and Moore for comment.

Clothing designer Samii Ryan, who was once part of the group at the center of the drama, seemingly reacted to Jennifer Tisdale’s accusations. She shared a video on social media of a man throwing open doors and lip-syncing to Megan Thee Stallion’s song “Her,” which many found noteworthy.

The song starts with a defiant statement: ‘I don’t care if people dislike me, because I know I’m very attractive.’ It continues, recalling a recent encounter where someone spoke negatively, but questioning what criticism they could possibly have, given her confidence and appearance. She emphasizes her beauty and financial success, suggesting these are beyond reproach.

Ryan added the caption ‘2026 mood’ to the video, leading fans to think he was reacting to recent statements made by Tisdale.

She posted a picture of an open book, sharing a quote from its pages. The quote explained that the book wasn’t based on facts, but rather the author’s personal observations and reflections – just thoughts, not necessarily truths.

The message went on to say that some thoughts will feel right, while others won’t. A few might remind you of something you already knew deep down. Take what feels useful and discard the rest.
