The couple who got engaged on stage at a Hilary Duff concert shared that the singer’s heartfelt reaction to their proposal is something they’ll always treasure.
Last Friday, Christopher Hernandez proposed to his partner, Ivan Arturo, while they were performing the dance to Hilary Duff’s 2007 song “With Love” on stage at Voltaire inside The Venetian in Las Vegas.
Duff clearly helped with the proposal by handing the microphone to Hernandez, then celebrated with a hug the couple won’t soon forget.
Hernandez described the moment as genuine and heartfelt, not forced or artificial. He shared with The Daily Mail that the loving and joyful hug is a memory they will cherish always.
The couple first connected over a shared love for a particular singer, so it felt perfect to launch the next phase of their relationship at one of his concerts. Hernandez, a dedicated fan herself, made sure it happened, even though it took some planning.
Before the show, Hernandez and Gerardo tried several times to get in touch with someone from Duff’s team, and eventually they succeeded.
Gerardo learned a few days before the concert that a friend had a connection to Hilary’s team. This friend passed along his idea for a proposal, and the response was very enthusiastic, Hernandez explained to The Daily Mail.
Someone suggested it would be perfect if it happened while we were performing the dance to “With Love,” and that they’d tell Hilary. It felt strange and unreal to think it might actually happen – and that she might already be in on it!
I’d already made up my mind to propose that night, even though we hadn’t officially confirmed everything. I knew it would be a special moment, whether or not all the details were worked out.
Just as we were about to go inside, we saw a team member outside. Gerardo went to talk to him, and the team member asked if the event was really happening that night, requesting a text message to confirm. Soon after, we found out that Ivan and I were going to be brought on stage during the song “With Love.”

Duff offered his heartfelt congratulations to the couple after their proposal, adding a perfect finishing touch to their special moment.
Hernandez said Hilary’s genuine excitement made the moment even more special. Her reaction was truly heartwarming – she hugged them, offered her congratulations, and clearly shared in their happiness. That support meant the world to them, making the experience feel deeply personal, warm, and unforgettable – more than just a formal performance.
Duff hugged the newly engaged couple, but they were too excited to remember what she said.
He explained that everything happened so quickly, fueled by adrenaline and excitement, that they couldn’t recall the exact words she used when congratulating them. He added that it would be wonderful to know what she said if she ever remembered.
We’ll always remember how she made us feel: truly excited, warm, and genuinely embraced. Her hug wasn’t quick or forced—it felt completely real and full of love and happiness, and it’s a memory we’ll cherish forever.
