Hilary Duff shares rare photo of son Luca, 13, as she moves past ‘toxic’ mom group drama

Hilary Duff shared a rare photo of her 13-year-old son Luca on social media on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old former Disney Channel star shared a photo on her Instagram Story of her son, Luca, who will be 14 next month, sitting in the passenger seat of her car.

The teen looks a lot like Duff’s son, who she had in March 2012 while married to her former husband, Mike Comrie.

Duff, clearly emotional over her son growing up, simply captioned the post, ‘Gah.’

Haylie Duff is a mom to three young daughters: seven-year-old Banks, almost five-year-old Mae, and 21-month-old Townes. She shares them with her husband, Matthew Koma, who is 38.

Just last year, Hilary Duff shared a touching post celebrating her son’s thirteenth birthday.

Just last month, the actress also posted a video showing her son Luca already taller than her, seemingly brushing off the recent controversy with a mom group involving Ashley Tisdale.

Before marrying Luca’s father, Duff was married to former professional hockey player Comrie from 2010 to 2014, with the divorce becoming final in 2016.

In 2019, she married Koma, who is an acclaimed singer and music producer.

Koma recently defended Duff after she became involved in online drama with a group of mothers, which began when Tisdale published a revealing article in The Cut magazine in January.

In her essay, Tisdale described feeling excluded from a group of celebrity mothers whose children were similar in age to her own.

Although Hilary Duff didn’t say who she was feuding with, many fans thought she was referring to Duff’s friends Meghan Trainor and Mandy Moore. However, a representative for Tisdale stated this wasn’t true.

Although Hilary Duff hasn’t spoken out about the situation, her husband used Instagram to support her and criticize Ashley Tisdale.

Koma recreated a photoshoot from Ashley Tisdale’s ‘The Cut’ cover story and shared the pictures online. He jokingly titled his version ‘A Mom Group Tell-All Through A Father’s Eyes’.

He responded to Tisdale’s post by writing, ‘When someone is extremely self-absorbed and out of touch, other mothers naturally focus on their own children.’

Just over two weeks ago, a long-running feud among moms in the group flared up again when Ashley Tisdale unexpectedly had a playdate with Hilary Duff’s sister, Haylie.

I noticed a bit of a buzz online late last month when I shared a sweet photo of my oldest, Jupiter, playing with my sister Haylie’s daughter, Ryan. It’s always fun seeing the cousins connect, but it seems people were particularly interested this time around!

She reposted a photo to her Instagram Story that Haylie had originally shared, captioning it ‘Under the table shenanigans.’

This meeting happened shortly after Hilary Duff hinted that she and her sister, Haylie, aren’t currently speaking, following years of speculation about a strained relationship.

She performed her new song, “We Don’t Talk,” during her concerts in London earlier this month.

Duff appeared to allude to their past conflict while singing, ‘I don’t know when it happened / I’m not even sure what it was about.’

She heavily hinted the song was about Haylie when she sang the line, ‘Cause we come from the same home, same blood.’

Duff explained that people often ask him how she’s doing. He wants to say she’s great, but honestly, he doesn’t know. What he usually ends up telling people is that they’ve stopped talking – they don’t discuss anything anymore.

She then alludes to her Napoleon Dynamite star sister possibly being ‘jealous’ of her.

She softly sings that if jealousy is the reason for the conflict, she’d give up everything and share the best parts with the other person.

Duff then makes a heartfelt plea for herself and Haylie to resolve their differences. In a song, she expresses her desire to talk things through openly and honestly, hoping they can rebuild the close relationship they once shared as children. She admits she’s tired of the sadness and silence that’s come between them and wishes they could finally address the issues keeping them apart.

Although Duff hasn’t said for sure, many fans believe her new song is about a falling out with her sister.
