Hilaria Baldwin posted a loving message about her stepdaughter, Ireland Baldwin, shortly after Ireland publicly criticized some of her family, calling them narcissistic.
Hilaria Baldwin, a 41-year-old yoga instructor and wife of Alec Baldwin (67), shared a post on Instagram celebrating their daughter Ireland‘s 30th birthday on October 23rd.
In her post, Baldwin expressed her deep affection for Ireland, describing her as a wonderful ‘sister’ figure to their seven children.
Happy birthday, Ireland! ✨ I’m so grateful for everything you are and constantly impressed by your wisdom, strength, and ability to bounce back.
You’re hilarious and brilliant, and honestly, the most amazing mom, sister, friend, and daughter. I truly value our connection and everything you do. You’re so encouraging and bring so much joy to all of our lives.
Hilaria shared that everything is good between her and Ireland, and they celebrated her birthday together with the kids on Thursday.

‘We love you so very much and it was so meaningful to celebrate with you today,’ she concluded.
Hilaria shared a touching message along with a photo of herself and Ireland, and pictures from her family celebration.
It was so sweet seeing Hilaria and Ireland together! They looked genuinely happy and cozy, practically squishing their faces together for that selfie – you could just feel the love!
Several of the photos showed Ireland’s two-year-old daughter, Holland. Holland is only a few months older than Alec and Hilaria Baldwin’s youngest daughter, Ilaria, who is three years old.
Holland is the only child of Hilaria Baldwin and her partner, RAC. He briefly appeared in a photo Hilaria shared of him playing with Holland and Ilaria.
Alec Baldwin wasn’t in the photos, despite having previously embraced Ireland when he was married to Kim Basinger, age 71.
Okay, so just a couple of days before turning 30, Ireland really surprised everyone. She took to social media and openly talked about some really difficult family dynamics, describing certain members as, and I’m quoting here, ‘narcissistic’ and ‘poisonous.’ It was a pretty raw and honest post, and definitely sparked a lot of conversation.
In a recent Substack post titled ’30, Flirty and Surviving,’ Ireland Baldwin reflected on her twenties and turning thirty, also hinting at difficult family relationships. A subheading within the post read, ‘Turning 30, reflecting, and dodging my family of narcissists.’

Ireland stated she has freed herself from the burden of having family members who struggled with narcissism, unreliability, and addiction.
Turning 30 feels lighter because I’m finally letting go of the burden of supporting family members who were narcissistic, unreliable, and struggled with addiction. I used to feel responsible for them, but I’m realizing I don’t need to carry that weight anymore.
I didn’t have a traditional family growing up – I was raised without both parents and didn’t have any siblings. This sometimes made my childhood feel lonely, and it led me to feel like I always had to try and please certain family members.
Ireland said the realization of their toxicity was a liberating experience.
I surprisingly valued their approval, but realizing how harmful they actually were was incredibly liberating. As I enter my thirties, I understand this is the key to ending these patterns.
I want to shield my daughter from people I don’t trust and create a loving family environment for her myself. I’ll focus on building a strong, positive family dynamic and demonstrating healthy relationships.
Ireland did not reveal who the specific family members were.
She experienced a difficult public relationship with her father, stemming from a hurtful voice message he left when she was 11, calling her a demeaning name. While their relationship was strained for a long time, it has since gotten better.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this story closely. It seems this mom was publicly sharing her decision to protect her two-year-old, Holland, from certain family influences she felt were negative – she called them ‘poisonous’ in a recent post. However, she has since introduced Holland to her own parents, which suggests that initial post wasn’t about them at all. It’s a reminder that family dynamics can be complicated, and sometimes you need to prioritize creating a healthy environment for your children, even if it means setting boundaries.
I’ve been following this story closely, and I understand the Daily Mail tried to get a statement from Alec, Ireland, and Kim’s teams, but they haven’t received one yet.
Ireland’s parents divorced in 2002 after being married for nine years. Her father later remarried and now has seven more children with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin. Ireland has been in a relationship with her boyfriend, Mitch Stone, for eleven years.
When Ireland was eleven years old, in 2007, her father, Alec, left her a very harsh voice message. He called her names – specifically, a ‘rude, thoughtless little pig’ – because she hadn’t answered his phone call, even though she knew he was going to call.
The infamous voicemail Alec left in 2007 happened shortly after his difficult divorce and fight over custody of his daughter’s mother.
Kim stated she didn’t share the recording, and her representative clarified that it wasn’t protected by a court order.
Ireland now jokes about the situation, referencing a 2015 Instagram post she shared with Alec where they were reading a children’s book titled ‘If I Were A Pig’.

Ireland shared a playful message, writing ‘If I Were A Pig… I would be Rude and Thoughtless of course!’ and included a pig snout emoji.
In 2017, during a playful roast hosted by Spike, Ireland Baldwin joked about a past voicemail her father left, mentioning she and Alec Baldwin have a much better relationship now. She playfully added that he wouldn’t say something like that today, because she’s tall—6’2”—and would defend herself.
A previously shared voice message from Alec Baldwin has reappeared online after Ireland Baldwin was left out of a Father’s Day post. The post celebrated her partner, RAC, and his father, Arménio Anjos.
Ireland and RAC share daughter Holland and they now live in Oregon.
