Hilaria Baldwin has bizarre reaction to ‘fake’ Spanish accent drama… after her Boston upbringing was exposed

Hilaria Baldwin recently joked about the controversy surrounding her accent, which began in 2020 when people questioned whether it was genuine.

Hilaria Baldwin, the 42-year-old reality TV personality and wife of Alec Baldwin, had a Valentine’s Day lunch with her 12-year-old daughter, Carmen, for Gurus magazine on Monday.

Page Six reports that Derek Warburton, the founder of Gurus, made a playful jab at Baldwin while expressing his gratitude to those who came to the party.

When she apparently responded with ‘thank you’ in a way that sounded Spanish, Warburton playfully said, ‘I love you, no matter how people perceive your accent.’

And the mom-of-seven laughed at the jab along with the rest of the attendees.

The event drew a crowd of well-known figures, including Sutton Stracke from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, fashion designer Nicole Miller, former America’s Next Top Model judge Nolé Marin, and publicist Anna Rothschild.

Several years ago, Baldwin, originally from Boston, faced widespread criticism after she began speaking with a Spanish accent.

She addressed the situation in an Instagram video, clarifying that she grew up spending time both in Boston and Spain.

In her 2025 memoir, Manual Not Included, she explained that her inconsistent accent is linked to her ADHD and dyslexia.

She wrote that her ‘brain just works differently.’

She explained that these diagnoses significantly affect her ability to speak, read, listen, concentrate, remember things, and feel confident.

She clarified why she considers herself Spanish, despite having been born and raised in Boston.

The yoga instructor attributed her accent to being neurodivergent.

She recalled a moment from her 2015 Today show interview where she momentarily forgot the English word for ‘cucumber,’ explaining it was due to how her brain works differently.

She said she did not discuss ‘any of this publicly’ until her book was written.

She described her mind as a mix of English and Spanish, a large dose of the mental load of motherhood, and a constant struggle with being easily distracted.

‘If only you knew how loud it is in my brain at any given moment,’ she continued.

I grew up switching between languages, often blending them together, and I never discussed the ways my brain worked differently.

The star insisted: ‘I can really succeed in the right environments and tasks.’

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin got married in 2012 and have seven children together: Carmen, Rafael (10), Leonardo (9), Romeo (7), Eduardo (5), Maria (4), and Ilaria (3).

Alec Baldwin also has a 30-year-old daughter, Ireland Baldwin, with his former wife, Kim Basinger.
